At least 33 persons including 25 militants and eight civilians, were killed in two troubled regions of Pakistan -- Bajaur Tribal Agency and Swat vally -- in operations by the security forces on Thursday. Nine militants were killed in Bajaur Agency while 16 were killed when jet fighters pounded hideouts of militants in Swat region. Eight civilians were killed when artillery shells hit houses in Swat valley.

Security forces killed nine militants during operation in Bajaur Agency on Thursday. Sources said security forces pounded militants positions in Mamoon tehsil of Bajaur Agency. Jets were also used for bombardment. Nine militants including seven Uzbek nationals were killed during action. Meanwhile, security forces targeting militants’ hideouts in Zorbandar, Sabagai and Nao areas of Nawagai from Agency headquarters Khar. According to reports, several hideouts have been destroyed during shelling.
