In spite of the fact that Pakistan has failed to arrest terror masterminds Osama bin Laden, Ayman Al-zwahiri, Dawood Ebrahim and one-eyed Taliban ruler Mullah Omar, US congress approved new funding for Pakistan that would total $3.27 billion this year.

Though Pakistan army protected the Taliban and Al-Qaeda eversince the the start of Operation Enduring Freedom in the wake of the 911 terror attacks, it finally launched an offensive after the visit of Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari, known worldwide as Mr. Ten Percent, last month.

Pashtun nationalists, both in Pakistan and Afghanistan, are angry with Islamabad for destroying their land and are still doubtful if Pakistan's  operations are being carried out in real earnest as the Al Qaeda top leaders have not been arrested so far.

"There were three main reasons for Pakistan to create theTaliban. First, to counter Pashtun nationalists, second to challenge Indian domination over Afghanistan and third but most importantly get more funding from the U.S. for the Pakistan army," said a Pashtun intellectual who now works for the U.S. State Department.

The total inflow of money from the US into Pakistan this financial year 2009 would be $3.27 billion including $ 957 million in appropriations and another $ 912 million on account of coalition support funds.
