3 killed in fierce clashes in tehsil Safi area of Mohmand, FATA

Three persons including a Khasadar were killed and 3 others were injured on Wednesday after fierce firing among security forces and Taliban in Qandharo area of Tehsil Safi, Mohmand Agency, sources told.

The sources said that clash triggered when security forces launched search operation against militants in the restive area of Qandharo in tehsil Safi of Mohmand. Both the sides used heavy weapons. Gunship helicopters and artillery were also used in the operation that heavily shelled the area, the source said adding that some of the artillery shells missed the target and landed on a house of a tribesman, Sabir in Toor Kor area. Sabir got serious injuries while his son Manasab Khan was killed. While a Khasadar, Abdul Qaddar alias Qadarai was killed and Saddam, Gul Zamin, Hayat and Rustam got injuries that were immediately shifted to the hospital. Tehsil Safi is being considered the hot bed of militants where security forces have been facing strong resistance from time to time.
