30 militants including key commanders killed in Mohmand

Twenty five to thirty suspected militants are confirmed to have died in the shelling of helicopters and artillery on the previous day (Friday) in Dawezai area of tehsil Pindiali. However the death of three high value targets has still to be confirmed, told Political Agent, Mohmand Agency.

These views were expressed by the Political Agent, Mohmand Agency, Amjad Ali Khan, talking to media after planting a tree at Government Degree College Ekka Ghund on Saturday.

Earlier security forces claimed to have killed at least 30 suspected militants including some key commanders and 17 others got injuries in Inzari Miangan area of Dawaizai, tehsil Pindiali, some 40 kilometers to the north of regional headquarters, Ghallanai when gunship helicopters and artillery targeted the suspected hideouts of militants.

On the other hand FC sources claimed that three key commanders, Maulvi Faqir Muhammad, Qari Zia ur Rehman and Commander Qari Fatih from Swat were also among the killed.  However independent sources had not confirmed the killings. Security forces have expedited the operation in the remote area of Mohmand Agency in the previous three weeks. FC have also claimed to have killed more than 30 militants and recovered 10 dead bodies a day before while the forces presented dead bodies before media. Later Interior Minister,Rehman Malik also confirmed the death of Maulvi Faqir and others.

Earlier the Political Agent planted a tree along with Additional Political Agent and Assistant Political Agents and said that more than 30 thousands trees would be planted by the forest department in tehsil Ekka Ghund and two tankers have also been procured.
