At least four people were killed and 20 were injured in a powerful car bomb blast in Maligaon area in Guwahati on Monday, according to

Don't they know that bombings do not further their cause?  Gandhi was from India...and people still do acts of violence upon his country.....It behooves me to utter senselessness in such acts of violence. It does no good....so why do it?  I think if people are truly that angry and upset they should kill themselves first before killing other people....At least that would be more honorable... I pray for the sick people, and the people who makes bombs to stop. It must take some time to make a bomb..find materials....and what not...I know I would rather use my time in better things than trying to make a bomb....... what if the darn thing goes off? I could get killed.....It is so dangerous and really a insult to religious and nonreligious alike.

It's really sad, Amitjha, that any big event such as such a huge election as India is mounting 'attracts' such extremists.

Some facts about ULFA, the terrorist group in Assam.

In 1986, ULFA first established contacts with the then unified National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) of Myanmar for training and arms. ULFA linked up with the Kachins through the 'good offices' of the Naga rebels. It learnt the rudiments of insurgent tactics from the Kachins (who reportedly charged Rupees 100,000 per trainee).

Subsequently, links were established with Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Afghan Mujahideen. Reports indicate that at least 200 ULFA activists received training in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Seized documents and interrogation of some arrested activists revealed that the Defense Forces Intelligence (DFI) of Bangladesh had also trained ULFA cadres in the Sylhet district.

ULFA also has a number of camps in Bangladesh. The ISI and the Directorate General of Field Intelligence (DGFI) of Bangladesh are agencies which reportedly facilitate the ULFA’s presence and operations. Several details of ULFA's Bangladesh connection were exposed when the Bangladeshi authorities arrested its leader Anup Chetia on December 21, 1997. He is currently under detention at the high-security Dhaka Central Jail. The main charges against Chetia include illegal entry into Bangladesh, possession of two forged Bangladeshi passports, possession of an unauthorised satellite telephone and illegal possession of foreign currency of countries as diverse as the US, UK, Switzerland, Thailand, Philippines, Spain, Nepal, Bhutan, Belgium, Singapore and others. Two other accomplices, identified as Babul Sharma and Laxmi Prasad, were also arrested along with Chetia.

More Violence!!! Every day more insatiable hatred perpetrated on these dear innocent people whose only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Baghdad just recently had another suicide bombing to add to that long list of bombings. My dear Lord we always here about the deaths associated with these types of bombings. However, very little info is given to the injuries. Now i realize that some injuries can be as minor as a small cut or even a bruise. However, to a young Jewish girl named Cheshire Jordan sometimes the injury can be far worse than death.

Her crime? She stood in line next to her friend to get a pizza at a local shop, when a suicide bomber detonated herself just 13 feet away. Cheshire's friend was instantly killed. however, Cheshire was seriously injured, "severe brain trauma" translated- (half her skull was blown away in the blast) the young Jewish girl who simply went with a friend on that day of days to get a pizza now sits in a vegetable state. She's barely able to speak a few words at one time and was also partially blinded when half her skull exploded. in my humble opinion  we just don't pay enough attention to the word "Injured"

Ravinwood, thanks for sharing this very sad but important reminder of the horrors that afflict the children so frequently.
