After leaving the town of Mobayi Bongo, a motorized boat with over 182 passengers was sunk. Approximately 47 people were killed during the incident and over 100 people are still missing.
District Commissioner Mathieu Modeste Bella said that 47 bodies had been recovered from the Ubangi River in the Central African nation. Twenty-seven survivors were helped to shore.

Among the passengers aboard the boat were merchants, women and children.
