Troops has over run the final LTTE earth bund in pudumathalan Erea in the No fire Zone and opend the 3Km area and rescued 5000 civilians from the LTTE. World largest rescue mission is on the way and still the world community is asking the government of Sri Lanka to arrange a ceasefire. Question is why they dont have guts to ask the terrorist to release the Civiliance and keep down there weapons.

Good news, Chanaka..!

Update -  06:45 GMT.....

Sri Lankan forces today captured a LTTE defence line and rescued over 15,000 Tamil civilians, who had been forcibly held by the Tamil Tigers in the government declared no-fire zone, officials said.
The troops took control of the three-kilometre embankment in Pudumathalan area in Mullaittivu early this morning and were able to open a safe passage for the civilians, they said.

According to the officials, this was the biggest single rescue so far.

Sri Lankan government has claimed that LTTE was using thousands of Tamil civilians, who have been trapped in the ongoing conflict between the security forces and Tamil Tigers, as a human shield. PTI

Here is another update, again from Reuters India.

Look at the part where a suicide bomber exploded among the people.  LTTE is leaving nothing to chance to save the "leedership" to buy more time by slowing down the outflow of civilians. No civilians, no shield to the life of LTTE "leeders".

It is evident that what value they give to the life of the trapped civilians.

At least 5,000 people burst out of Sri Lanka's tiny war zone on Monday, after soldiers broke through a long earthen wall the Tamil Tiger rebels built to stall their advance, the military said.

A suspected Tamil Tiger suicide bomber set off an explosion among the throng of people and wounded at least 17, military sources told Reuters.

The wall of earth had blocked the widest land link to the coastal strip where Sri Lanka's military has surrounded the Tigers with the goal of crushing them and ending a civil war that has raged since 1983 and is now Asia's longest-running.

"Troops captured the earth bund and so far 5,000 people have been rescued. It is still going on," military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.

The no-fire zone is a 17-square-km (6.5-sq-mile) area of coconut groves, where the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) separatists are fighting their last stand from among tens of thousands of civilians they have held there by force.

Thanks Agent. This news is came to our mobiles and it is a great news to start the week and happy for the families and people who were saved. More information will update.

Still the all War on terror countries are asking for Ceasefire, well People of Sri Lanka wants to ask these countries weather they apply the same theory with the Al Qaida and Taliban. Helerious part is they all continues this war on terror is not even in there country and asking Sri Lanka to go for the cesefire with terrorist. First they apply this policy for them and request for other people.

Thank you so much for genuinely feeling happy for these Tamils civilians.

however, I am sorry to say that I can't share the similar enthusiasm until there are foreign aid agencies and journalists are allowed to see these "refugees camps" - Barbed wire villages raise fears of refugee concentration camps

Those number can not be verified since the Sri Lankan government rejects any journalists or foreign aid agencies access to the refugee camps.

Even if the number is right, these Tamils IDPs are subjected to regular rapes, killings and degrading interrogations.

Refugee camps are turned into torture champers for the Tamils civilians in Sri Lanka, Medico International quoted Thomas Seibert in a press statement.

If the Sri Lankan government is working towards the goodwill of Tamils in Sri Lanka, then it should have no problem letting the journalists and foreign aid agencies into help and monitor these refugees living conditions.

Thanks for showing the true LTTE way of attitude for these innocents coming out from the death. Well even the things you mentioned are happening as it is why the people in No fire zone coming out in lrage numbers for the Government side. May be there happy to get tourtured or raped write?

We dont need any one to monitor as what they did early, they came here to spend there vacations and then write about something which does not exit. What was they done to these Tamils before this Humantarion Mission starts. Nothing at all, please if your sources have anything built new for these innocents people rather making strong the LTTEs leaders hide outs.

Well last when this rescue mission is over you have to find a new sponcers for write some more falls about Sri Lanka,.Please ask your sponcers to sent you to Sri Lanka and see it from your own eyes of the Tourture chambers, rooms they used for kills Tamils. What ever you want to tell about here rather sitting in some where even you cant feel about these Tamils. That would be interesting.

More than 35,000 civilians today fled the last area under the control of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Sri Lanka’s cornered LTTE, President Mahinda Rajapakse said, adding that the rebels' "complete defeat" was imminent.

Showing aerial video from a military spy plane over the tiny area where the Tigers are staging a last stand, Rajapakse said 35,000 non-combatants had crossed the lines into government-held territory since early Monday morning.

"The footage clearly shows that the people are defying the rebels and escaping. They are running to safety," the president said.

The government has accused the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam of using trapped civilians as a human shield, and the president suggested that their escape removed a final obstacle to an all-out military assault.

"The process of the complete defeat of the LTTE has just begun," he told AFP. "It is now all over for the Tigers."
