57,293 children from Vanni are presently detained in Sri Lanka Army (SLA) internment camps in Vavuniyaa, U. L. M. Haldeen, Secretary to the Ministry of Disaster Relief said to the media.

1,034 children among the above are orphans or separated from their parents while there are 7,894 widows and 3,100 pregnant mothers in Vavuniyaa internment camps.

There are 11,873 detainees injured in the war and 3,968 maimed persons held in the above camps.

Meanwhile, there are 3,689 government officers among those detained, the Secretary said.

MY OPINION.

Sri Lanka is violating every basic human rights again! Children don't belong in a internment camp!

I have seen these pictures before from WW2 where jews were held in the same concentrationcamps that the sinhalese have set up (with U.N. money!). Many of these children never have had any safety from the sri lankan government, instead they were attacked by rajapaksa and fonseka, whose armies also used clusterbombs and chemical warfare, on a daily base in the mullaithivu killing fields! Thousands tamil babies and children were slaughtered by sri lankan airforce and many have lost life or limb!

In the mean time the government is partying over 50.000 killed tamils in their so called "war on terror" which is basicly a cover up for genocide! Rajapaksa and his brothers are warcriminals and the U.N. must demand probes into this!

My support goes to all the tamils in Sri Lanka who have no voice, your brothers and sisiters here must help you to get you a safe and free Tamil Eelam!

Why have you not mentioned the large number of Tamil civilians killed by the LTTE? Why do you only give one side of the story? Did you forget that the LTTE were holding them against their will and using them as human shields? The LTTE has to also take blame for those babies and children who have lost life and limb!

whats the point in blaming someone who is not anymore ? How is that going to save those children in those concentration camps.

There will be a judgement day and sri lanka sinhala army will pay for whatever they did to tamils.

If LTTE was holding these people as human shields, why did the army drop bombs on them?

Human shield is not a justification for killing those innocents.

Talking about one-sided story, can you mention any civilians casualty figures released by the government?

If the LTTE was the problem, how come Tamils still suffer and tortured by the army?

absolutely true and even when the political=non combatants ltte members surrendered with a white flag they were killed by the army on the spot, despite that Nadesan's wife, who by the way was a sinhalese, shouted in sinhalese that they were surrendering to the SLA soldiers!

25.000 wounded tamils were unable to flee the killing fields when Colombo decided to attack on them full power! The whole world has warned Rajapaksa for genocide and massacre of innocent civilians.

No single excuse from those warcriminals while they murdered 1000+ little children and babies with airstrikes!

Why don't your government let us talk with Tamil civilians and hear what they have to say without fearing for their (or relatives) lives?

Why are your government hiding away Tamils from the world in concentrationcamps?

As far as we all can see, they have a GENOCIDE to HIDE!

I am not tamil but I do support Eelam Tamils who are being slaughtered, tortured, raped abducted, and kept hostage in concentrationcamps by your Government and army chief fonseka!

that's exactly the point, tamil babies, children mothers, fathers and elderly should be able to return to their homes and not be held hostage in concentration camps!
