The severed heads 5 police officers and 1 prosecutor were found outside a church in Durango Mexico.  The suspected criminals are drug cartels who are well know for gifting severed heads to send message to rivals.

Mexican police say that the beheading appeared to be a revenge attack by the Zeta hitmen of the Gulf cartel because the Mexican army killed 10 gang members last week.

Over the last few months, as President Calderon has been making huge efforts to crackdown on drug harvesting and trafficking, there have been huge amounts of deaths as gangs rival each other and officials.

In related news:  Drug cartel boss Arturo Beltran Leyva has been killed by Mexican officials.

Drug gang members in Tijuana, across from San Diego, killed more than 20 people in the past 24 hours, chopping up and beheading victims, while drug murders have escalated in Ciudad Juarez on the Texas border. The city has become one of the world's murder capitals this year.

Drug gangs are becoming increasingly brazen despite a 49,000-strong troop presence across Mexico. In Calderon's home state of Michoacan in central Mexico, suspected drug gangs threw grenades near the state government palace on Tuesday, seriously injuring a pregnant woman and a young girl.
