60 years of resistance

You can scream into a microphone all you like, but on this continent, unfortunately not a lot of people are listening. The system is much too twisted in favour of the powerful.

American presidents have been notorious supporters of Israel, regardless of its human rights violations and frightening policies. The reasons are easy to see. Obama is known to have acknowledged that the suffering of the Palestinian people surpasses that of anyone else in this conflict, but he couldn't stand up to the flak. He apologized, and has never repeated that statement.

Jimmy Carter has been an interesting exception to the rule. He names the American Israeli group AIPAC as an example of the kind of powerful forces that pressurize US politicians into being more Israel-friendly.
