Hyderabad: In a shocking revelation, it was now found that sixth class student Bhavani was murdered by a VII class student Praveen alias Pappu for rejecting his overtures.

Bhavani, who disappeared after leaving her home to participate in a friend’s birth day ten days ago was found floating in Krishna river in Vijayawada.

Police who unraveled the mysterious death of the girl said she and Praveen were in love and planned to get married with the help of friends. However, when she finally backed out, fearing her parents, Praveen pushed the girl into the river.

The body of Bhavani, who left her home on April 20 telling her parents that she was going to participate in the birth day of a friend, was found dead in the Krishna river more than 200 km from Hyderabad.

Police said 14-year-old Praveen studying seventh standard and 13-year-old Bhavani, studying sixth standard were in love. It is learnt that the two left their homes and sought help of their friends to get married. Police said that their friends have contributed money to make their marriage a success. The two were sent along with one Srikant to get married by their colleagues on the last working day of the school. The pair and Srikant have first gone to Tirupati and then to Vijayawada. It is at Vijayawada that Bhavani has backed out as she was afraid of enraging her parents. Angered by her sudden retreat, Praveen has pushed her into the river.

When Srikant and Praveen have returned to Hyderabad without Bhavani, her parents have asked them what had happened to the girl. The two boys coolly lied that Bhavani had slipped out of the train into Krishna river.

Police have later fished Bhavani’s body out of the Krishna river. They however found that it was not an accident and Praveen has actually pushed the girl into the river. Police who arrested both Praveen and his accomplice Sri Kant has said both the boys had admitted to killing the hapless girl.
