MIRAMSHAH: An eight-year-old student of a private school was reportedly shot dead by the security forces for allegedly violating curfew on  monday 1st November. The authorities had clamped a curfew on Bannu-Miramshah Road on Sunday and Saturday due to movement of Pakistan Army convoy from Bannu to Miramshah, the main town of North Waziristan Agency. As per directives of the security forces, the political administration had ordered local people to stay at 300 meters distance from the main road during curfew in the area. Family sources of the slain student claimed the student, who was studying at Kurram Model School at Darpakhel Serai in Miramshah bazaar, was about 600 meters away from the main road when fired upon by the soldiers. They said he received a bullet on his head.

The family said the student was returning home after attending classes at the school in the afternoon. Majority of private schools in North Waziristan remained close on Friday and were opened on Sunday. The family members along with father of the slain student, Ghulamuddin, started search for the student when he could not return home. They found his body lying in pool of blood at some distance from the school building. They took the body to home at a village near Gora Qabristan and started protesting the killing. They also asked the army chief, corps commander of Peshawar and general officer commanding of North Waziristan to order a probe into the killing of the student and give them justice as they were loyal to the country and had never indulged in any anti-state activities.

A security official, however, argued that the incident could have possibly taken place due to misunderstanding. He denied that the security forces had fired at the student from 600 meters, arguing that range of a G-3 gun was only about 300 meters at daytime. Meanwhile, the authorities announced curfew from Colony checkpoint in Miramshah to Dattakhel, Ghulam and Razmak areas today (Monday) due to movement of the forces. In an official announcement, the authorities said they imposed curfew on the Miramshah-Razmak Road, Miramshah-Ghulam Khan Road and Miramshah-Dattakhel Road on Monday. All government offices, public and private institutions, including schools and commercial banks would remain closed due to curfew. According to a local school teacher massive violation of  the Universal Decleration of Human Rights is continue in FATA.
