An anti-government demonstration in Moscow organized by Garry Kasparov was broken up by riot police, resulting in 90 arrests.

Police trucks ringed the square where protesters were to gather, and hundreds of officers with truncheons stood by.

The detainees were taken into custody as they approached Triumfalnaya Square in central Moscow.

The Other Russia's Web site said Kasparov and about 200 other opposition members met Friday and Saturday outside Moscow, "finalizing a new movement, which aims to peacefully dismantle what they describe as the illegitimate regime ruling Russia."

Kasparov, who is chairman of the United Civil Front party, "said it was impossible to reform" the regime of President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, according to the Web site.

I think all his Demonstrations have been broken up so far over the past 4 years. They must really fear him.

This anti-government demonstration was organized by the "Other Russia" (an umbrella coalition that gathered opponents of Putin and Medvedev). Kasparov is not the organizer of this protest, he didn't come at all.

But don't overlook the bright side. In the background of jordan's featured photo is something never seen at Soviet crackdowns on mobs in public places: a Christmas tree!

On second thought, there were Christmas trees in the days when Tsar Nikolai II sent his mounted Cossacks to scatter protesters, with sabers, no less.

Never mind.

Dense hit the nail on the head, mobs, Christianity all western ideals are starting to sink in when everyone wants a standard of living wage like the west, problem is, if it gets out of hand, sabre will be a rattlin and the world will witness it.
