Video Installation 'Where The Bee Sucks' by Paul Conneally

Remembrance Sunday 2008

I originally made this installation 3 years ago to commemorate the 90 years on from the Somme. It was exhibited at the Liverpool Bienale as part of the RedSkyAtNight exhibition and then again at The Renewability in Mile End Arts Pavilion.

Last night I watched the Remembrance Service from the Albert Hall in London. I thought of all the people killed in all wars and decided to share this video piece again.

We never see the bees return only leave.

The news is that the world has not had one day without war since the end of World War I - that's 90 years ago.

Let's hope for peace - it's here if we want it.

We used to have a school ceremony at 11 AM on Nov 11 for Armistice Day.  That's when the guns fell silent.

Here we still do - all our schools and most offices and shops will stop and become silent at 11 o'clock on the 11th day of the 11 th month.
