Abducted Irish priest now missing 4 weeks today in Philippines
Father Sinnott, a Colombian priest based in Pagadian in the Philippines, was abducted and held for ransom exactly 4 weeks ago today. Father Sinnott was born in Co. Wexford in Ireland and is 79 years old. He underwent quadruple bypass surgery in 2005 and is on constant medication since - however he does not have his medication with him since being abducted and this is very concerning to his colleagues and parishioners.
He returned to the Philippines 33 years ago as part of his mission and is highly thought of by the local communities who pray for his return constantly.
A video was released by his abductors over a week ago showing him holding a newspaper dated a week beforehand as he pleaded for his life.
It is believed that he is still alive but there are major concerns over his lack of medication which will cause major complications and perhaps worse.
The Filipino community in Ireland is also very concerned and showed their solidarity today when they held a prayer service in Dublin for his safe return. He is a man who has touched the hearts of many people both far and near.
We all hope for his speedy and safe return back to his colleagues and community.
