Abdul- Aziz al-Hakim  was a kings-maker in Iraqi politics who channeled rising Shiite Muslim power after the fall of Saddam Hussein. Abdul- Aziz al-Hakim died August 26, 2009 after a battle with lung cancer. The Iraqi theologian and the leader of Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, was 56 years old. Abdul- Aziz al-Hakim was in Iran receiving chemotherapy at the time of his death.
