Abdul Mudallad: Nigerian Terrorist Suspected of Flight 253 Attack

Representative Pete King has identified the suspect in the Flight 253 terrorist attack as Abdul Mudallad. Various media outlets have reported the name as Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Whether the suspect is named Abdul Mudallad or Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, this much is clear: the suspect is a Nigerian national who is suspected of an attempted terrorist attack. The Nigerian terrorist, who King says has links to al-Qaeda, allegedly tried to set off an explosive device on a Northwest 253 flight between Amsterdam and Detroit. It is believed that the suspect may have acquired the explosive device in Yemen.
Mudallad is said to have ties to terrorist organizations.
Abdul Mudallad is reportedly being treated for burns while in custody.

I, as a nigerian feel terrible about this incedent. as it has rubbed the image of the nigerian youth to the mud. Ab initio, the young nigerian is known for all sorts of internet frauds, but this! It will be a disaster to our (nigeria's) socio-international image, if we become synonymous with terrorism.

Nigeria's reputation is screwed anyway. Nigerian is synonymous for prostitution, internet fraud and drug trafficking all over the world. In many ways being labeled a terrorist nation is a step up, in my opinion.

I think that will not happen. Terrorists do not have the human concepts like country, family, religion etc. They are socially challenged creatures. Nigeria, as a country has nothing to do with terrorism.

One thing all news organizations I have seen are missing in this story is that it probably was not a passenger that jumped on this idiot terrorist. As far as I know we still have air marshals on all international flights. I am sure the airlines would not confirm or deny though.
It is too bad all the passengers did not jump him until he was dead to make an example of him.
Trying to attack an incoming US plane on Christmas... I wonder how they would like us destroying Mecca on Ramadon (sp?) and killing millions of muslims in one spot.

I saw a documentary that the money that built Mecca came from the family of none other than Bin Laden. I don't know if that is true. As you can probably tell, this story made me so angry.

This has nothing to do with the Mecca or muslims.Afterall there are muslims on the plane.the main fact that the Terrorist is a muslim doesnt mean you should hate muslims.Afterall we have many terrorists in Russia and they are mostly christians.why dont we mulims blame christians.This terrorists are people like you and me,they arent fighting for religious sake,they are fighting for what they think this powerful countries did to them. am writing this to IFEANYI MBAH who indentified himself as nigerian, i am also a nigerian and i can tell you this concerning nigeria and terrorism. stop crying for nigeria and its image because it doesnt deserve it. since i heard the story of this fool who wanted to bomb plane filled with innocent people i have been mad beyond imagination but on the other hand i realize that we nigerians are living in fool's paradise and we better wake up b4 its too late. we need to wake up and disintegrate nigeria so that we can be free of the ridicule that nigeria brings to us. i can tell you that there are tons of more terrorist wanna-be in northern nigeria and its just a matter of time b4 they start looking for excuses to bomb the southern part of the country. its time to consider either regionalizing or disintegrating the country so that we can finally build our regions or seperate countries and stop blaming other people.

I live in Nigeria too, and was shocked to hear of a Nigerian terrorist on an international flight. This is very uncommon, as we value our lives above dogma. Very uncommon. Now that we have one 23 year old fool from the North, I'd like to remind the gentlemen here, that the bad 'fraudster' image Nigeria has developed over the years is largely due to our Southern brothers who engage in all sorts of illicit drug, human trafficking and 419 activities. No offence intended. Most Northerners will travel abroad and return back home without engaging in such. However this is the beginning of a bad trend: that of terrorist Islamic zealots from the North (who are misguided youths inspired by the likes of Osama bin Laden) Remember Boko Haram in Nigeria earlier this year? May we all find a way of living together an overcome these problems, rather than accuse each other and claim we're better off being a splinter of banana republics.

Well said my brother, we are all Nigerians, and should not cast blame on individual groups. Whether north or south we are brothers, this young man is a young idealist who perhaps believed in his cause due to religious brainwashing.Christians are also brainwashed. The Europeans and the Arabs are equally prejudiced against us, perhaps we should think of that before running to defend these foreign religions blindly. This young son of our soil was used, perhaps influenced by prejudice he faced in England. That is no excuse ofcourse, but has anyone considered he got into something too big and by the time he realised there was no way out. Nations of the world must begin to have more compassion for others and perhaps this kind of deep seated hate will become a thing of the past. There can be so many like him from all over the world, brainwashed by people who use religion to carry out their political objectives. It is nothing new, but Africans must not lend themselves to either side as both sides do not care for us. We must stop following religion blindly.

my boyfriend is from nigeria,i was with for years ,he came over here and was a carer looking after the old people in england,he had all his papers ,and passport in his name,guess what every one reading this,he was sent back yes deported,his passport was some one else,s in a english name,every one said to him why have u got a english name a nigerian,with his passport he got loans in london every loan shop,had 1000s of bills he never open one letter i didt know why ,i do now he owns 1000s of pounds from loans and phones and bills which he never pay,d,he said he had no wife lies in the first place ,not forgetting black eye,head butted,beaten me many times and bit my face when i caught other black woman in his house he said thats a cousin,all my sister,lies again,maybe a auntie,thats how some of these men work,there are good men too all over the world,but are poor old people in nursing homes we dont know who is careing for them after all do we and i didt know his real name till the police took him.sad for us both now

For a start,i'll say dat i'm happy to see dat d wanabe terrorist has been named "FOOL" by all concered parties. That proofs dat d idiot is alone in his quest to begin d unfashionable trend of suicide bombing. This may not sound good but its true: vices such as scamming n fraud (as terrible as dey are) are done by some Nigerians as a 'stay alive' measure. It's unfortunate though dat most cases of suicide bombings originate from d Arabs who are dominantly muslims. In my own opinion,i think d problem is political rather than spiritual/religious.
