Abdulazzi & Anoud al-Hiijjii Disappeared from Sarasota Two Weeks Before 9/11: Why Didn't the FBI Report It?

Saudi man Abdulazzi al-Hiijjii, his wife Anoud and their two children vanished from their pricey Sarasota, Florida home two weeks before the 9/11 attacks. Their brand-new cars were still in the driveway, fresh fruit still on the kitchen counter. The only sign that the family wasn't coming back was a missing computer (power cord still in the wall) and an emptied safe.

Abdulazzi al-Hiijjii had ties to Mohammed Atta, who visited the gated-community home several times. Abdulazzi al-Hiijjii was also connected to 11 other terror suspects via visits and phone calls.

The FBI knew this after investigating the family, but never told Congress. The FBI also never told the 9/11 Commission. Abulazzi al-Hiijjii was on a terrorist watch list, as was Esam Ghazzawi, Anoud al-Hiijii's father and the owner of the Sarasota house.

While we don't espouse conspiracy theories, it's naive to think that the Abdulazzi al-Hiijjii-Mohammed Atta connection just slipped the FBI's collective mind.

We all know by now that the US government worked pretty hard to protect its relationship to Saudi Arabia in the aftermath of 9/11, but it would be helpful if we knew how, exactly, this family disappeared, and where they ended up.

We can safely presume that al-Hiijii wasn't a US informant, since the 9/11 attacks obviously took place two weeks after the family vanished.

It's widely believed that some of the famously-redacted pages from a 2002 report involve a connection between the 9/11 hijackers and the Saudi government.

Beyond doubt is that the US Government is not telling the whole story behind 9/11: the reason that September 11 conspiracy theories thrive is that the official version is so hard to swallow.

Former U.S. Sen. Bob Graham, the Florida Democrat who co-chaired the congressional Joint Inquiry into the attacks, said he should have been told about the findings, saying it "opens the door to a new chapter of investigation as to the depth of the Saudi role in 9/11. ... No information relative to the named people in Sarasota was disclosed."

Before anyone says that disclosing these details may "endanger national security", keep in mind that this amounts to letting potential 9/11 conspirators remain at large. That's pretty much the textbook definition of compromising national security.

The story of the plane crash in Shanksville, PA...the way Tower 7 was destroyed...our rush to invade Iraq and Afghanistan, The Patriot Act, formation of the TSA, and our total "hands-off" policy with the Saudis.  Disturbing points for me, personally.  There's more to this story...much, much more.  And any doubt about one's Governmental forthcoming after such a horrific event is in itself, a terrorist action.  I want to hear a lot more from Colin Powell.
