Abe on his 200th Birthday - 8

On February 12, 2009, Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday, Civil War reenactors stood guard at the statue of Abraham Lincoln on the 14th St. (West) side of the Nebraska State Capitol building throughout the day. I slipped over for a few minutes on my lunch break to take a few pics of Abe on his special day. The statue is by the same team who created the seated statue of Lincoln at Washington's Lincoln Memorial -- sculptor Daniel Chester French and architect Henry Bacon. In fact, this statue preceeded the more well-known one, having been dedicated in 1912, while the Washington statue was unveiled in 1922.
