Abortion Doctor George Tiller Murdered: Scott Roeder Suspect
Scott Roeder has been identified as the suspect in the murder of late-term abortion doctor George Tiller who was known in the anti-abortion movement as Tiller the Killer. It is believed that Scott Roeder planned the shooting of the controversial abortion doctor; Dr. George Tiller was murdered on the steps of his place of worship, the Reformation Lutheran Church, for maximum impact.
George Tiller had been a target of anti-abortion advocates for decades; he was one of the few doctors in the US who would perform late-term abortions for non-medical reasons. Scott Roeder had written several opinion pieces about Dr. Tiller, Tiller the Killer, for Prayer and Action News. In fact, many in the anti-abortion movement already consider Roeder a martyr and a hero.
Dave Leach, editor of Prayer and Action News says that his group was unaware of Roeder's plan but declined to call the killing of Dr. George Tiller a crime, asserting that such a statement would be "simplistic."
Scott Roeder was arrested in Kansas and transported to Wichita, Washington for arraignment. It is expected that he will be charged with murder sometime on June 1, 2009. US Attorney General Eric Holder has ordered added protection for other doctors identified as being at risk for future targeting by copycats.
Dr. George Tiller had been providing women with abortions in the US for more than three decades and was a favorite target of anti-abortionists. He endured protests outside of his church and home, multiple civil lawsuits, saw his clinic bombed, and in 1993 was shot in both arms and legs by another anti-abortion activist.
At the Reformation Lutheran Church, where Dr. Tiller was in regular Sunday service attendance, people were shocked and outraged by the killing. Several parishioners at the Reformation Lutheran Church witnessed Scott Roeder shoot Dr. George Tiller and are cooperating with police and prosecutors.
Scott Roeder, 51, of Merriam, Kan., whom authorities have described as a suspect in Sunday’s fatal shooting here of George Tiller, the doctor who had been a focal point for abortion opponents for decades, was once a subscriber and occasional contributor to a newsletter, Prayer and Action News, said to Dave Leach, an anti-abortion activist from Des Moines who runs the newsletter. Mr. Leach said he and Mr. Roeder had met once, and Mr. Roeder had described similar views to his own. Of Dr. Tiller’s death, Mr. Leach said, “To call this a crime is too simplistic,” adding, “There is Christian scripture that would support this."

I'm glad George Tiller was stopped by Scott Roeder. Now babykilling abortionist George Tiller will not be murdering any more innocent children. Those who support murdering babies by abortion are dispicable babykillers as guilty as he was.
