Recently both the House and the Senate voted to defund ACORN after some controversial videos shot by right wing filmmakers were posted to the web. However, the same lawmakers trying to defund ACORN for improper actions haven't even suggested defunding defense contractors who have committed actual crimes.

The same U.S. Lawmakers’ who have proposed the defunding of the community activist group ACORN have ignored the criminal activities of defense government contractors – Blackwater, Dynacorp, Halliburton – who have received more lucrative contracts.

Rachel Maddow listed off a litany of criminal accusations against numerous government contractors, including murder allegations against Blackwater; the 2000 scandal involving DynCorp, in which 13 company employees were sent home from Bosnia for running an underage forced sex slave ring; and recent claims about ArmorGroup and its alleged links to fraud and prostitution.

“Not only have these contractors not been defunded by outraged members of Congress, they all continue to get spectacularly lucrative government contracts even after all these things have been exposed,” Maddow told viewers.

“If this isn’t just a witch hunt against ACORN … then we can all look forward to the explanation from the fake-outraged Republicans and the cowering Democrats about why nothing ever inspired them to defund anyone before ACORN,” Maddow said.

Irrelevant whether these two kids were "right or left". They tapped into the fraud that Acorn has been questioned about for years.  I find it peculiar that both the right and the left can never look at the truth as it stares us in the face and try to discredit it because of the wingnuts on both sides. In the end we all suffer for this stupidity. And TheCameraObscura spins this one by trying to justify the Acorn scandals because the rest o f the wingnuts allowed companies to posiibly exploit the war effort. Nothing new here.

Lets call it honestly and without begrudging the truth: Acorn has shown itself unreliable to take charge of public monies for the purpose of providing legal representation to the public needs. Besides, they have been acting more like a political  advocacy group.

When did I justify the ACORN scandals?  That is a straw man argument.

Let's call it honestly, the truth is defense companies have committed crimes, including murder and not one lawmaker has even suggested defunding any of them. You don't even suggest they should be defunded.

So you honestly believe that an undercover tape about "pimps" and "ho's" equals murder, I find that staggering.

tikun, perhaps if the people who were murdered hands of Blackwater had died ON TAPE before your very eyes and were Americans, you might have a different perspcctive.

Perhaps if you'd seen ON TAPE US soldiers electrocuted and killed by KBR's faulty wiring, you might have a different perspective.

Where does President Obama's (seemingly close) relationship with ACORN fit in?

I don't have any problem with Obama being associated with ACORN.  Where os the scandal?  A fake "pimp" and a "ho" given bad advice?  That's it?

Former Halliburton CEO Dick Cheney was drawing a deferred salary WHILE giving "no bid" BILLION DOLLAR contracts to Halliburton.

If you really believe that is all that went on in defying the law and helping them break the law then you deserve what is happening to America. Karma will some how kick the butt out of every excuse to Acorn employees that pamper to  lies and deception.

In effect it seems quite right and first things first, Spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on golf at the expense of taxpayers is unacceptable. Unlimited funds destined for the defense of the nation, that are diverted toward anything other than the defense of the nation period is a blatant disregard for law,the people and a deliberate screwing of any seriously minded human being.  The public has to stand up to this in the same way it did on health care. Although it didn't work. How is that OK? I believe I am now seeing a thread of where the president is headed with regard to Upward motion. I have leg mobility and others have Skooters. When  that is done move to step #2No country was so strongly inclined to foster upward mobility as their own, wrote Arthur Von Posadowski - Referring to Germany.(1905)

People are losing credibility daily by supporting Acorn and other groups like this. Have some character America, if they did wrong, have some courage and stand up against those who do wrong. I do not like George Bush, but he was my President. The same people who cursed him and said all kinds of negative things about him, are all up in arms when some one says something negative about President Obama. You cannot have it both ways!

When Obama invades a foreign country based upon LIES of WMD as Bush did, I will be the first one to protest.

Credibility?  Blackwater employees are on trial right now for murder, no one in ACORN has ever been charged with anything like that.

Stop obscuring the truth and deflecting the issues to the long standing hatred of a former President. Denial is the root and source of moral decay.
