A medical aid boat from Qatar and Lebanon managed to breach the Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip. It carried "medicine required for cancer brought by the Qatari government at the request of the Palestinian ministry of health in Gaza". Unlike an earlier Libyan ship which was prevented from delivering humanitarian supplies, this Qatari backed initiative counted with tacit Israeli approval.  The Palestinian call for cancer medicine contradicts earlier defencive statements by Israeli health authorities in reaction to the World Health Organization (WHO) accusations against Israel for providing a selective and reduced health care to Palestinians. The humanitarian crisis brought by Israeli blockade has been criticised by UN and EU. Amnesty International also called for the end of the Israeli blockade as it affected civilians.

Activists from Qatar and Lebanon have defied Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip by docking an aid boat in the territory. The ship delivered medical aid to the Hamas-controlled territory on Saturday, a day after leaving from Larnaca port in Cyprus. It is the first boat to reach Gaza's shores since the end of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas on Friday. Fifteen activists, including two from a Qatari charity, led by the US-based Free Gaza movement made the voyage. Israeli authorities did not prevent the ship reaching Gaza's port, according to the boat's spokesman. However, he said that prior support from the Qatari government helped the group reach their destination. The aid supplies contained specific medicine required for cancer brought by the Qatari government at the request of the Palestinian ministry of health in Gaza. Israeli naval ships patrol the enclave and earlier this month prevented a Libyan ship from delivering humanitarian supplies. Israel tightened its blockade of the Gaza Strip two years ago after Hamas won a parliamentary election. Shortages of basic foodstuffs, oil and medicines in Gaza have been increasing since then, with aid groups warning of a humanitarian crisis if the blockade is not eased.

As the World Health Organization (WHO) accused Israel of providing a selective and reduced health care to Palestinians, a Hamas representative in  Tehran warned that the siege of the Gaza Strip was “a shame” for humanity. On the other hand, Israel officials defended their case against WHO allegations

No one breached the blockade. They were allowed to enter Gaza in spite of the dozens of rockets entering Israel from Gaza.

Naff with your ProPALganda. Hamastan is Israel's enemy who fires it's Qassams daily in trying to kill Israelis. Israel has no any obligation to let merchendise enter into Gaza because most of the boats carry weapons and rockets. Israel let ships as the Qatari ship into Gaza and didn't play into the hands of the ProPALgandists.

Any way, I wish that Israel will react properly against the Hamastan aggresion in due time.

The "crisis" was brought on by the constant barrage of rockets from Hamas and other terrorists operating in Gaza. It is real easy, stop the terror and the gates will open.

The criticism is from forces that are directly or indirectly interested in the perpetuation of terror. The only way to eliminate this heartless and cruel suffering in Gaza is by Hamas giving its people peace and safety  through the ceasing of attacks on Israel. PERIOD.
