Hyderabad: Actress-turned politician Mrs. Vijaya Santi was arrested by the police when she visited the Osmania University, scene of a violent agitation, ignoring the warning by the police not to go there.

            Vijaya Santi who has quit acting and joined Telangana Rashtra Samiti which is demanding that a separate Telangana state be carved out of Andhra Pradesh, an Indian state has tried to enter the Osmania University campus where police have been struggling to maintain law and order. She was arrested.

            Osmania University is a scene of pitched battles between students fighting for Telangana state and the police. Police had to fire rubber bullets and use tear gas to maintain order since two days. The students are supporting the demand of creation of Telangana state. Vijaya Santi, Parliament Member was shifted to the Tirumalagiri police station.
