Mussoorie: 4 July:

Ravi, who works as a teacher at a school in New Delhi, and his wife Sadhana, were in for a shock as their vehicle reached Mussoorie this weekend. They were greeted by the unending nightmare of a traffic jam just a few kilometers before Mussoorie. Already tired by the ordeal of driving 6-8 hours from Delhi, they were expecting a cool and quiet summer holiday. Little did they know that an uncomfortable welcome was awaiting them at Mussoorie. The car moving at snail’s pace and children crying for drinking water became unbearable. Realising that the Traffic Jam would take another 2 hours to clear, cursing the Police and administration, they turned their car back towards Dehradun, vowing never to visit the Hill Station again.
Ram Singh, hailing from Ludhiana, Punjab had the same opinion as Sadhna and Ravi. He said, “It becomes difficult to find parking space especially in the peak summer season. The harassment by Police also increases. They do not let us even stop for a moment at one place.” He is also considering changing his hill station visit to some more planned location.
Naved from Clement Town, Dehradun reminisces about his earlier visits to Mussoorie, “It used to be fun driving uphill to Mussoorie but no more now as the traffic is so chaotic and crowded that all the fun vanishes after the ordeal.” Desperate measures are needed to solve this parking problem in Mussoorie, he adds further.
The residents of Mussoorie are also disgusted with this attitude of the administration.

Mr.Anil Rawat a Businessman in kulri bazaar is of the opinion that serious planning for the growing town is missing.

Gosh, and I thought traffic in Vancouver was bad!

good stuff:

Sounds like the mountains in Colorado in the summer. Guess all those cheap little cars didn't help either, inspite of high gas prices.

René

doesn't look like a traffic jam in that town picture, just lack of parking.

rene have posted more pictues,it is really a problem during peak summer holiday season and small cars do not help.
