Batam, Sumatra (ANTARA News) - A Boeing 737-400 plane operated by Indonesia`s Adam Air skidded off a wet runway while landing at Hang Nadim Aiport, Batam, Sumatra, on Monday at 10.40 am local time.

Four out of a total 171 passengers aboard the plane with flight number KI-292 were shocked and had to be rushed to the airport`s clinic following the accident.

Bad weather and a wet runway due to rains had caused the plane to skid off the runway, head of the airport`s aviation security division E Amir said here on Monday.

The plane which departed from Jakarta at 8 am local time, came to a stop about 10 meters from the end of the runway at Batam`s airport but all passengers were safe, Adam Air`s Director of Operations Captain Irawan S said in Jakarta following the accident.

"The plane was forced to go around while trying to make a landing because the weather was unfavorable," Irawan said.

The plane`s right wheel was damaged in the accident.(*) end
