Adolf Hitler had a son, Jean-Marie Loret, with French Teen
Adolf Hitler had a son with a French teenager, 16-year-old Charlotte Lobjoie, while serving as a soldier during the First World War, according to new evidence.
How would you like to be told that the world's most evil man was your father?
No, we're not talking about Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, but actually, it's almost like that.
We'll call it the "Luke, I am Your Father" Maury episode, Hitler style.
Jean-Marie Loret, who died in 1985 aged 67, never met his father, but went on to fight Nazi forces during the Second World War.
"I am Hitler's son," Jean-Marie Loret told Francois Gibault, a Parisian lawyer, in 1979. This week, French magazine LePoint published a revised account of Loret's incredible story.
Adolf Hitler served as a corporal of the Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment 16. The future Nazi leader was fighting in Sebouncourt, in France's northern region of Picardy, when he was granted a 4-day leave that he spent in the small town of Fourne-in-Weppe, near Lille. Here, he met Charlotte Lobjole and started a brief relationship with her which resulted in the birth of Jean-Marie, who died in 1985 aged 67.
While aware that his father was a German soldier (a fact that led to a lot of bullying in school), Loret remained unaware of his identity, although Hitler kept up a correspondence with Lobjoie.
Lobjoie gave up her only son for adoption in the 1930s to the Lorets.
In an incredible twist, Hitler's son went on to fight the Germans in 1939, defending the Maginot Line before France was overrun and occupied from 1940 until 1944. Loret even joined the French Resistance, and given the codename "Clements".
When he learned his father's name, Loret said: "In order not to get depressed, I worked non-stop, never took a holiday, and had no hobbies. For twenty years I didn't even go to the cinema."
According to LePoint, evidence collected by Loret seems to support the Frenchman's claim. A study by the University of Heidelberg reportedly shows that Hitler and Loret have the same blood group. Another study showed that their handwritings are similar.
Rumors that Hitler had fathered Mr. Loret circulated in the 1970's. Mr Loret opened up and wrote a book about it, Your Father's Name Was Hitler, in 1981. Soon, the book will be republished to incorporate new evidence supporting his claim.
Hitler never 'officially' had any son or daughters, but he is remembered to talk about his love for children. He married Eva Braun towards the end of World War II in 1945 and committed suicide not long after.
