NP Rank:
Afghan chief’s son in Brit asylum bid
Kind of Ironic in a way, son of the governer of Helmand province in Afghanistan seeking asylum in UK. Says its too dangerous there for him. After a dozen or so assination attemps on his life, well ones got to agree with him on that issue.
But could it be he wants to abuse the British welfare system, no I really don't think so he is very scared. I think his been sent to UK by his dad as his father wants his son to suceed him if the family is murdered by the Taliban.
THE son of a top Afghanistan politician is seeking asylum in Britain - because it is too dangerous at home.Barai Mangal claims his life is at risk in war-torn Helmand province, where his dad Gulab Mangal is governor and UK troops are battling the Taliban.
He told stunned immigration officials in Liverpool in July he wants to start a new life in the UK.
Mangal is entitled to free accommodation and £35 a week spending money while his case is considered.
His bid to flee Afghanistan will anger the families of our troops putting their lives on the line there.
And it has triggered panic among Whitehall officials.
