AFGHAN Jihad and its aftermath

Throughout the world, people have written extensively, on this and various similar topics related to Afghan-Russian war, including Blockbuster movies. Therefore, there is not much left to a layman like myself to add much to this very important and devastating tragedy of our time. However, I will look at this war through a prospective of an unbiased, Common Citizen of this planet and try to make some sense out of this.

In the beginning of Afghan-Russian war, There was no Jihad or Mujahedeen but an ordinary Afghan, who took a weapon in hand against the mighty Red Army and its allies, that is the communist government of Afghanistan in the leadership of, Bubruk Karmal, to liberate his mother land From the invader. There was nothing holy or sacred in this war For the Afghanis. They were Fulfilling, their duties, as any other nation would have, under the given circumstances. These brave souls were resisting against the unjustifiable invasion and occupation of an aggressor, with everything and anything they could get their hands on, which included hands made very primitive guns and pistols, mostly made in the neighboring tribal areas. Because of their common language, culture and longstanding ties, these tribal, were the ones, who initially, start helping them with room and boards logistics, money and even manpower. Subsequently, when the Pakistani Establishment at the time, realized the Seriousness of this conflict as well as the hidden purpose of the Soviets behind this, they woke up and started to assist the dispersed groups of Afghani Fighters in a more organized manner and the rest is well known to all of us So I am not going to elaborate on. However, Pakistan could not afford financially and physically, alone to accommodate millions of Afghan Refugees, their training as well as equipping them with weaponry let alone, sophisticated one that were needed to fight against the word’s Superpower but despite that, Pakistan did what it could. Anyway, this was the time when the prayers were answered and the US Showed its Strong interest in this war via CIA. Not only that but also with the America on board and its influence, the rest of the world, including Arabic, Started to Chipping in and thus the ordinary Afghani liberation Struggles, were converted in to a Holy war (Jihad) and the Fighters into holy worriers that is the Mujahedeen. There is no question that, everyone except Afghanis, involved in this war, had his or her hidden agenda and an interest in this war but nonetheless, it was a Dream came true for both the Afghanis and Pakistan’s government.

During that period of time, which was about mid 1980, When the Flooding of Mujahedeen Started into Pakistan (Peshawar, NW FP) from all over the world. There were, three kinds of people among them,

1. Those who were genuinely interested in the Jihad and liberation of Afghanistan from the Russian invasion. They were either Martyred during the war or they left back to their respective countries once the Soviets withdrew and the NaJeebullah Communist regime was toppled.

2. The Second kind was those who were not interested in the Jihad per say but wanted to liberate the Afghani land so that latter they can establish their base. They had a preplanned agenda. These sorts of worriers were lead by DR. Ayman El Zawahiri, Whose Sole purpose was to topple the Egyptian, west Favoring, Government and subsequently establish an Islamic State Which will serve to his deviant ideology called “Takfir.” He has already denounced the Egyptian government and almost all other Arabic countries, to be Kafir, Under the Same Ideology. Keep in mind, MR. Zawahiri has already made one attempt against the Egyptian govt. which was

Revealed ahead of time and coasted a severe humiliation and Loss of people, to him and his party. After which he was living in an Exile in Saudi Arabia where he Find out about the Famous OSAMA. As above mentioned, Mr. Zawahiri, already had the ideology and purpose. He needed place, people and Finances to execute it. Therefore, he saw a golden opportunity in the Afghan Jihad and in Mr. Bin laden, who was Charismatic, young, brave and rich. Thus his move to Pakistan and then to Afghanistan, was not a coincident but a Smart and premeditated plan.

3. The third kind was those who were initially very good Muslims but with passage of time, slowly deviated from the right path. These kinds of worriers were under the leadership of OSAMA bin Laden, Who was initially a very simple, religious and at least visibly a kind person who was genuinely interested in the well Fair of the Muslims but then turned into a most wanted terrorist of the world. I strongly believe that, Mr. Zawahiri has a Lot to do with his latest conversion. Even though he called and made Osama the Leader but behind the Cartons, it was Mr. Zawahiri Who was calling the actual Shots and the Smart Osama, unknowingly was playing in his hands. Especially after the 9/11, Osama had no choice left but to keep playing in his hands. I believe that was the time When he let go one of his Son out of Afghanistan Whom probably you might have seen with long hair, in modern clothing with his British born Girl Friend on various TV channels several months ago.

After the withdrawal of the Red army and subsequent collapse of the Najeebs government, the purpose of Jihad, which was still there to certain Extent, completely abolished. The Common enemy was gone and so were the biggest organizers and Financiers of this war namely the CIA and many others. Even though, Pakistan was there structurally but had withdrawn its support and supervision because of its own multiple problems at the time. There was no one left to reorganize the various groups of the Mujahedeen’s and gave them a New direction and a purpose. Naturally, what happens in these kinds of situations is a massive Chaos leading to a lawlessness, civil disobedience and civil war. Not only that but also to the bed luck of this region especially Pakistan, while everyone else left, the only (unwanted) Forces remand behind or Came back after a While, were those of MR Zawahiri and Bin laden and their Followers. In the absence of Pakistan and the US, they got the golden opportunity to further organize and explore their pre planned mission. As mentioned earlier, they had the purpose and ideology to begin with and now they got a wide area, almost no man’s land, to establish their base and keep recruiting more Volunteers, to execute what was already in their mind from the start. They heavily penetrated and explored the weaknesses of the Taliban including Arab Afghan marriages, monetary help and presenting themselves as the only well wishers of Taliban among the rest of the world who had abandon them in a crucial time of their need. No matter how Primitive, backward and harsh Taliban were, they were not a terrorist group neither they were a threat to any one behind their borders. No doubt, their unorthodox methods of Governance and harshness etc were neither Islamic nor according to the civilized world. But then what you Expect, From such people, Who were practically uneducated, without any guidance or support From the rest of the world who originally prepare them to Fight against the Russians but never thought of their Future. After all these were the Same Mujahedeen or their second or third generation, Who Came Forward, Under the name of Taliban (students) to bring the peace to their country When no one else was there to help them. Unfortunately either deliberately or purposefully, some people are mixing and confusing the Afghani Talibans with the terrorist groups such as AL QAE DA or some of their elements like Tahrike Taliban Which are another terrorist group fighting for the interests of the enemies of Islam as well as Pakistan. These groups may not be created by the enemies but undoubtedly they are being Supported and Financed heavily by them. After all, they share a common purpose that is to defame the peace loving religion of Islam and Muslims as well as to destabilize Pakistan. It is the last one (destabilizing Pakistan) which unites both Al-Qaida and our enemies.

Remember the famous speech of President Bush, Just after the 9/11, in which he warned and gave a three days Ultimatum to the Afghan Taliban, lead by Mullah Omar, to surrender the Al-Qaida and its leader Osama to the United State, otherwise they will be considered as the State harboring terrorists and will suffer the dare consequences. This was a clear admission by the US that, the Talibans were not the terrorists or they were involved in the 9/11. IF the Taliban had done what they were asked For, I am Very sure; they will be still ruling the Afghanistan as they were for the past Five years before this incident. Remember I Stated earlier that the Taliban, were not terrorist but I also must admit that they were not angels either. They had made the lives of their Citizen a living HELL with their self proclaimed Islam, but certainly that did not concern any one including the USA and the rest of the world’s so called civil society.

After, all this Explanation, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand that the mother of this current evil was no one but a handful Arabs and their supporters who were kicked out of their soil and they Found the safe haven in our back yard (on purpose or by an accident that is a separate story) to carry out their evil game Which is coasting us today with thousands of innocent lives, economic crisis, uncertainty and God knows What else to follow.

One can understand, for a movement, the outrage, after the 9/11of the united state, after all, the entire world’s Sole Superpower was not only severely hurt but also humiliated. The Americans had never seen before such an atrocity especially on their own land. Therefore, their reaction was a very natural phenomenon whether one agrees or not. However, I am asking, the rest of the world especially the Muslim world, where were they during this critical time? Rather than a few words of Sympathy and condemnation, Why not they came Forward to calm down the Americans and gave them the reassurance that this was a crime against the humanity and Since we truly share their pain and anger, we will be the First to bring these criminals to the Justice in Front of the world and Since, America, you are hurt, physically and emotionally, therefore we want you to stay back until we get even with these terrorists. After all we all believe in the global world and we must Share its responsibility. I strongly believe that would have not only raised our Stature in the world but also it would have prevented all this mess which will Stink probably for a Long time. HOWEVER, if despite all these efforts, the Bush administration had done the same; I promise you they would have not gotten the Support even of the Americans let alone the whole world. But unfortunately, the world did not fulfill its responsibility and left the USA alone. Whether it was deliberate or not, certainly was one of the biggest mistakes of the entire world. I am not chastising the American government or their policies and some of their agencies who have a Fair Share in Similar activities, and need to be hold responsible for their mischievous. However, even they are in a minority compare to the vast majority of the American nation who just like anyone else, want Peace and harmony in the world. Therefore, I am speaking in behalf of these, 90% plus Americans and the Citizens of this globe who Share the Same goal and that is Peace. There are only 10% of those among us, who wants otherwise, Even among these 10%, only 1% are the actual instigators While the rest 9% are their Stupid, misguided Followers. Once we, the majority (90%) of this planet, realize that, I am Very Sure, we can overcome this evil minority and if we tagged them right, then there is no question, that they will no longer be able to disguise or hide From US. We will be able to Isolate them very easily among masses and root them out. Of course to finish them all, will be impossible but they will be not able to operate so comfortably plus they will be on a constant run.

At the end, I would like to pray For the Unity and blessing of the whole mankind, their wisdom and tolerance. May God almighty give us the courage and ability to fight against the evil no matter where and which Form it may exist, including within our own selves. May Allah (swt) bring the ever lasting peace and harmony to our planet, earth and abolish the evildoers from it (Ameen).
