Five British soldiers have been shot dead by an Afghan policeman in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan.

The officer opened fire, killing the five and injuring five others - he was able to excape the compound.

A "rogue" Afghan policeman has shot dead five British servicemen and wounded five more after conducting a patrol with the troops in Helmand province.

He killed the soldiers, three from the Grenadier Guards and two from the Royal Military Police, during a debrief in the Nad-e'Ali district yesterday afternoon before fleeing.

He has yet to be found.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed all the soldiers' next of kin have been informed.

This is another example of how difficult it is to define the enemy in Afghanistan.  My heart goes out the the families of these soldiers.

When you occupy a sovereign country, people get killed. If Britain were to become occupied I would consider myself a coward if I did not harrass the occupier.
