Awoken by loud crashing and the subsequent whirling of chopper blades in the sky, late sleeping residents of Manhattans Upper East Side awoke to disaster this morning. A crane hovering over a building on the corner of 91st and First Avenue collapsed, leaving two men dead and the building damaged. By 10am the Police, Fire, and Rescue presence was enormous. Streets from 88th to 93rd on First and Second Avenues were closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic as Rescue Works sought to clear the scene.
