President Ahmadinejad stated Iran position in nuclear negotiations has improved as Western Powers agreed to sit and talk.
'Situation in favor of Iran N. issue'
Tue, 08 Jul 2008 05:50:00The Iranian President says the situation has turned in favor of Iran's nuclear case because the West has agreed to discuss the issue.
"They (western powers) have agreed to negotiate with us while in the past they failed to recognize the least of our rights," President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan in Kuala Lumpur.
President Ahmadinejad praised Ankara's stance over Tehran's 'peaceful' nuclear activities. He also described Iran's relations with Turkey as 'brotherly', adding the two countries share common interests in various issues.
Ali Babacan, for his part, termed Tehran-Ankara ties as strongly and deeply-rooted. He also called for further expansion of bilateral ties as well as mutual investment.
The Turkish Foreign Minister meanwhile expressed support over Iran's civil nuclear program.
“Turkey regards any country as entitled to peaceful nuclear energy and fully supports those states wishing to reach such an end,” Babacan concluded.
