Well, let see what comes next. It was evident that with Bush gone Iran would change leaders and its tone.
Lets hope Ahmadinejad will honour the elections outcome and that nothing drastic other then words will come about.

Bush is not the reason for the tone of the Iranian mullahs. Disqualifying the opposition by a panel of theocrats is the reason for people like the present leader to be elected.
Bush is not responsible for the energy shortages in an OPEC country. They are. Bush is not responsible for the police arresting women and men who are not properly clothed and coiffed. They are.
The evil of Iran's mullahs is an invention of the humans in that area for that area by those in that area. Bush could raise the temperature but the real problem is that removing Saddam, something that benefited Iran by freeing the Shiites and letting Iran get involved in the internal politics of Iraq, also provided a real model for overthrowing the Iranian regime, either with force or with the ballot box.
That is the real objection to Bush. And, the traditional authoritarian character structure is responsible for the attitudes of the authoritarians that run Iran.

Roy C,
Defending Bush for his crimes is not a justice. Bush was the president of America , why he decided to control Iraq? Perhaps you people trying to make him President of this world.
What ahmednejad is doing is nothing but his internal politics and what Mullas of Iran are doing is also their internal matters. No one is trying to control America , Canada or Uk. No one is trying to send army to any country to kill millions of innocents, civilians as Bush did in Iraq.
Roy C , stop chasing Muslim countries and their rulers. Peace need Justice which you can not get by defending killers of million innocents.
at 09:45 on June 11th, 2009
I am not defending Bush, but Bush did not create authoritarian Islamic governments. They have existed for centuries.
Oh, yes, Iran has been interfering in the internal politics of Iraq for a long time, including guns and those IEDs that have killed hundreds of soldiers and hurt thousands more.
Iran has an undergound resistance movement. Some of the people live in California and I have met them and talked to them.
They will be going back when they see that the time is right.
So, you keep on defending the devilry of the authoritarian, anti-woman, anti-reason and anti-Western regime of Iran. That way we won't forget what you have said.
I am smiling. You are a lot of fun.

I really hope he doesn't get re-elected.

Roy C,
I always used to think why people act like blind and deaf? Still do not understand. you can see Iran is trying to interfering in the internal politics of Iraq But you can not see Bush entered Iraq and killed millions of innocents. Do you why you are so blind? Because bush killed millions of Muslims and you cant see but Iran is trying to interfere Iraq's politics which goes aginst Bush and Obama and you can see this.
Only such type of feelings, injustice in the reason of disturbance in this world. when you people will start thinking like a human being?
at 10:05 on June 11th, 2009
amyjudd be sure Ahmed nejad will win the election and will not allow USA to rule Iran.
at 10:25 on June 11th, 2009
The Muslim world had its own internal conflict centuries ago, and the hard-line fundamentalists won and drove out the rationalists and suppressed the Muslim scientific community.
That was what plunged the Muslim world down from its peak as the most advanced and powerful culture in the world.
What is going on today is just a reminder that this issue of human rights and the separation of religious law from civil law has yet to be resolved in the Muslim world, though signs of a success can be found in Turkey and in Iraq.
Iran's mullahs took advantage of the dislike for the corruption of the Shah's regime to overthrow the Shah, but the secular allies of the mullahs all ended up dead, from Gotzbedah to the secular president of Iran.
In other words, the mullahs stole Iran from the Iranians. That theft has to be accounted for and the country of Iran must be returned to its people. And it will.

Ahmadinejad should be ousted. He's done nothing for the people of Iran and only has appeal to hardliners. And when he's not calling for the destruction of Israel, he's oppressing women and threatening to jail anyone who criticizes him...sounds more like a dictator than a president. Personally, I think the Iranian people have had enough and the Green Party will win by landslide.
at 10:55 on June 11th, 2009
Eoy C,
Ha ha ha. literate people act like blind and deaf. Read full sentence" you can see Iran is trying to interfering in the internal politics of Iraq But you can not see Bush entered Iraq and killed millions of innocents."
Do not act like kids Roy C.
But you will not.. we all can see how foolishly you started to find baseless fault instead of answering.
Do not spread mischief in the land by injustice. We all are Human being, have same blood, same feelings and same emotions. Act like a Human being.
at 11:02 on June 11th, 2009
Iran does exactly what you accuse Bush of, who is not president by the way, and they have been doing it for decades, that is, before the election of Bush.
Your regime you apparently love blindly has every fault that it accuses other regimes of having: duplicity; corruption; interference in other countries.
We in the US have the chance to vote out our presidents. Apparently, the Iranians are behind the US in that department, called the "Department of Freedom".
They will win, and the mullahs and their supporters will be overthrown, and, if not in this election, then in the next one or the one after that.

liquilite1, Blaming and making allegation is very easy job and is also a biggest reason of disturbance in this world. Every Irani have right to judge what Ahmednejad did and what not. Thanks god Ahmednejad is not killing millions of innocents by targeting other country and do not run any jail like abu gharib. Thanks God that not we have not seen any Irani treating other human being like animals as we have seen in abu gharib.
So liquilite1 speak against in human acts not against people of other religion.
at 13:04 on June 11th, 2009
Your absolutely right...every Iranian has the right to judge what Ahmednejad has or hasnt done since his election.....which is why he's going to lose. You say "Thanks God that not we have not seen any Irani treating other human being like animals as we have seen in abu gharib", but say nothing about all the money, weapons that Iran quietly gives to terrorists and suicide bombers, eventually killing innocent people.
at 11:53 on June 11th, 2009
Roy C
Every body knows America is running behind muslim countries. Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran. But you can not see. People like you defend those who treat human like animals in abu gharib and condemn those who send message of Peace to the world.
I do not understand how people dream to control others house? This the only reason of terrorism in this world.
you said "They will win, and the mullahs and their supporters will be overthrown, and, if not in this election, then in the next one or the one after that. "
You have dream of kicking Mullas from their own country and home land. This is the reason of disturbance and mischief in this world.
Fighting injustice, oppression is only way to defeat terrorism and spread Peace in this world and it is duty of all those who have heart of Human being to speak with justice on this matter.

The mullahs can stay in Iran but they cannot stay in charge of Iran. The Iranians don't want it, and that is what Obama called a "universal value", the value of democracy.
at 12:10 on June 11th, 2009
doesn't surprise me one bit. Obama thinks he can have a chat with this guy and change his mind? Hopefully the more moderate candidate will win in Iran.
at 12:30 on June 11th, 2009
Roy C ,
Increase your knowledge on Iran. What they want and what they do not? 99% Irani want Mullas as their leader. Do you know why? Because they follow their leaders practically. Perhaps you do not know Muslim world have practice of following their Mullas in each and every matters.
So first learn and then speak.Hypocrisy is the key of ignorance.
at 13:15 on June 11th, 2009
"Perhaps you do not know Muslim world have practice of following their Mullas in each and every matters".
...I'll take that into consideration when the next round of innocent people are killed in either a car bomb or suicide atack. Oh, wait, I'm watching that on tv right now in Pakistan at the hotel that was just bombed.

at 17:59 on June 11th, 2009
Roy C is consistent. He has a 'Cheney-like' surety to his positions. I do not agree with him often, think he takes the individual and projects it to a general argument frequently, but he is not alone in that. A world of Roy C's is what the US retired in the last election...not necessarily doctrinally, though I think he is more of a closet neo-conservative than he cares to admit, especially on foreign policy...but more in the perception that there is only one world picture and that his own. This is often a product of American culture, where strength, rapidity and frequency of opinion are more valued than consideration. It is ensconced in the US electoral and educational systems too. If that can be changed, and debate become more considered then progrss may be made..otherwise you just have intransigence on both sides which is a cycle of non-productive rhetoric

Here is a link to a Times Online article where Hossein Mousavi, the front runner in the election, predicts riots if Ahmadinejad wins.
