Ahmed Ferhani and Mohamed Mamdouh: 'Lone Wolves' Arrested in Synagogue Terror Plot Sting
Two men, Ahmed Ferhani and Mohamed Mamdouh, have been arrested for plotting terror attacks against Manhattan synagogues. Ferhani and Mamdouh were arrested after a seven-month investigation by the NYPD, which described the two as "lone wolves" with no ties to terror organizations.
Ahmet Ferhani and Mohamed Mamdouh allegedly bought handguns, ammunition and a hand grenade from undercover cops, and apparently planned to disguise themselves as Jewish worshipers to plant explosives in crowded synagogues.
Ahmet Ferhani is a 26-year-old aspiring fashion model; Mohamed Mamdouh is 20. Both have been charged with engaging in terrorism, weapons possession and hate crimes
The case against Ahmet Ferhani and Mohamed Mamdouh will be prosecuted under New York State's own anti-terrorism laws; most terror trials are conducted at the federal level.
