Black Box Found in Wreckage of Air France Flight 447

Using a submarine, the BEA found the missing flight recorder that was aboard Air France Flight 447, which crashed while en route from Rio de Janiero to Paris on June 1, 2009.

Investigators hope that the recovered black box will help them figure out exactly how and why the Airbus 330 crashed. The Air France flight 447 crash claimed 228 lives, and the wreckage has sunk deep into the Atlantic: the black box was found under nearly 13,000 feet of water.

Another part of the flight recorder was found last week, but the newly-recovered part actually contains recorded data from Flight 447. Now it is a matter of whether or not the data can be read.
