NP Rank:
Ako Mismo to be launched in Negros tonight
"AKO Mismo," a nationwide advocacy campaign eventually ratified for the upcoming and much-anticipated national and local elections on May 2010, will be launched in Negros Occidental with some 3,000 Negrense youths expected to participate in tonight's launching at the Capitol lagoon from 3-7 p.m.
"Ako Mismo" project director Mardi Mapa-Suplido urges Negrenses "to join the growing consciousness for social change through collective action and volunteerism and break the attitude of apathy and indifference which are prevalent today."
There is a great need of political change in the Philippines, this organised event sounds so good but the problem is that the youth at this event will never really get a chance of changing much in the Philippines. Many events such as these will be held before the elections next year. The political clan will make hay whilst the sun shines and do a lot of campaigning at such events.
The problem is the doors to governance are blocked by the political clan elitist and only the corrupt and the crooks are allowed passage through the doors. Its all to do with money and buying votes and rigging ballot boxes, the youth fed with ideas that they can change and make a difference will have little chance to succeed.
However we can only hope.
