NP Rank:
AL. SCHOOLS TO CHECK IMMIGRATION STATUS OF STUDENTS, PARENTS
If you have a child who is enrolled in an Alabama public school, this is for you...no exceptions. After Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley signed an immigration bill into law that makes Arizona's look like Mississippi's, I knew something bad was happening here. With two months before it takes effect, the fine print is beginning to get larger.
One of the stipulations of the Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act is the requirement of public schools to "determine the citizenship and immigration status of students enrolling".
The bill requires school districts to check each student's birth certificate along with the immigration status of their parents by way of full background check. Any information of interest collected will be sent to the Alabama State Board of Education in an annual report, who will then provide a report to the state Government.

So being born and raised in the USA is no longer enough to grant you the rights and privileges of citizenship, if the immigration status of the parants is taken into account. How many "Americans" would have been denied education throughout the history of the nation? Are the people of Alabama afraid that having the children of their gardener, or housekeeper go to school will prevent their own children from getting an education?
This is like the old joke, (and by old, I mean I made it up about two or three months ago when thinknig about Immigration issues that were all over the news at that point.) Q: how many Republicans does it take to screw in a lightbulb? A) None, they hire an illegal immigrant to do it, then bitch about the lack of jobs for Americans.
