NP Rank:
Alberta MP is being impersonated on line
The Internet is playing a larger role in our lives. Many of us are aware of identity theft and are aware the chaos that could create in our lives.
Conservative Member of Parliament for Edmonton East, Peter Goldring says he is being impersonated on line and the victim of what amounts to identity theft. He has no idea how to stop it.
Someone has been using his web address and sending out mass e-mails under the slogan "Canada needs Change".
Goldring says the impersonator has send out three e-mails making it appear as though Goldring is adopting an anti-government stance.
EDMONTON -- Conservative member of Parliament Peter Goldring (Edmonton East) says he's the victim of what amounts to identity theft and has no idea how to stop it.
Goldring says someone is sending out mass e-mails under his website address and the moniker "Canada needs change."
He says the impersonator has sent three separate e-mails making it appear as though Goldring is promoting an anti-government stance.
One e-mail, which contains spelling and punctuation errors, states that fluoride is a harmful toxin and the government puts it in your water.
An attached manifesto goes into great detail about how fluoride is linked to the dawning of the nuclear age.
The other two e-mails, which also contain errors, proclaim opposition to three bills in parliament, including Bill C-27, which, ironically is known as the identity theft law.

That has happen to many on the net including my self. It is times like that I wish I could just send a nasty virus down the line to the impersonator or impersonators.
But We shall remain civilized and ethical so one has to take the legal route wish takes much time and many efforts to have that stopped and regains control over once ID.
Well, if the Governments would worry less about spying on citizen and more about ethical rules wile maintaining freedom of speech that may be progress.

Yes and in Canada, at least for now, ISPs don.t have to provide info on their clients. It makes it even worse if an out of country source is used to do this.
