Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has arrived in Tehran for a three-day visit to discuss the formation of an OPEC-like gas group.

Algeria holds the presidency of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and is a major gas exporter to Europe.

Five ministers accompany President Bouteflika who previously visited Iran in 2003.

The Algerian leader stopped in Tehran Sunday on his way home from attending the opening of the Beijing Olympics.
