All Lapindo mud-flow victims also to receive cash

All victims of the Lapindo mudflow, both those who have received a compensation and those still expecting it, will receive the direct cash assistance (BLT) as compensation for the fuel oil price hike by the government.

Spokesman for PT Pos Office in Sidoarjo, M Thaha Salahuddin said in Sidoarjo on Tuesday that he has compiled data of the mudflow victims with the help of their respective neighborhood chiefs.

"We will distribute the BLT in 89 places. But we will have to go to the poor in remote villages to distribute the direct cash assistance," he said.

The number of poor families who are also victims of the mudflow in Porong subdistrict reached 2,920, in Tanggulangin subdistrict 2,458, and in Jabon subdistrict 588 families.

Actually the data is based on the 2005 data for BLT distribution.
