Gee, I can see their logic, if you come to this country, you should fit in and assimilate into Canadian Culture and respect our Laws and Traditions and not try and impose your beliefs on Canadian Society.
Most Muslims, like many Immigrants who come to Canada come here fleeing the Oppressive nature of the own Culture and Religion, why they would wish Canadians to assimilate that culture and more importantly Sharia Laws into Canada's, certainly does not make a lot of sense.
Muslims and all Immigrants need to know Canadians fought long and hard for freedoms, from Womens Rights, Gay Rights, Freedom of Religion, Marriage, Property Rights, Division of Matrimonial Assets etc.
Sharia Law if introduced into Canada law would strip those hard earned rights faster than you could say "Jihad".
Honour Killings seem to be making media headlines into Canada as well, where some Fanatic Muslims feel it is okay to kill their own daughter for the slightest transgression, such as wearing jeans, or makeup or even refusing to wear a Hijab. Let alone talking to a boy, they meet in school.
Certainly a Dark Age religion has not place in modern society. Or Bible was also pretty horrific when it came to brutality, but we progressed and saw the folly of it's words and chose what we wanted"The Good", and left out the whacko Death to infidels verses.
Immigrants to this country need to be apprised of our culture and laws before they leave their home country in order for them to make an informed decision if Canada is right for them and their culture, if not, them pass us by and find another country to immigrate to. We are not being racist, just letting you know what we stand for, if you disagree, that is your choice, and our Choice is we do not wish to accomodate our beliefs and culture to suit yours.
On another note, in which I am sure Moderate Law Abiding Canadian Muslims will agree is, why pick on them, as they are not all Suicide Bombing Fanatics, why aren't our Government officials not putting a policy in place barring immigration of Asian Criminal Organizations who seem to be immigrating into Canada, in particular Vancouver, British Columbia in droves turning a peaceful Canada into what is now seen according to Crime statistics as North Americas "World Criminal SuperPower".
I am pretty sure Muslims have nothing to do with being part of the Super Criminal Underworld in the big scheme of things. For answers our Government should be looking East, young man, Look East, Far East !!

Large influxes of Muslims, the failure to integrate foreigners and an overrun immigration system make Canada a "threat to North American security."
These are some of the findings published in a new book by the right-wing Fraser Institute called Immigration Policy and the Terrorist Threat in Canada and the United States.
The book says Muslims, as a group of potential immigrants, should be given limited access to Canada.
"It would be prudent, from a security point of view, for Canada to review its immigration policy in relation to the admission of immigrants from Muslim countries that are known to produce terrorists," the book says.
Co-author James Bissett, a former head of the Canadian Immigration Service, says Canada needs to better screen potential immigrants from Islamic countries to ensure they are non-violent and respect "Western values".
