Alleged militants attacked over army camp in Landikotal

 

 

LANDIKOTAL: Alleged militants fired rockets on the cantonment area here late

Sunday night and early Monday, killing a Frontier Constabulary (FC)

soldier and injuring 14 others, officials said.

The cantonment came under attack at about 1am when some alleged militants started  firing with  light and heavy automatic machine guns which  continued till Monday morning, targeting the residential compounds of paramilitary soldier (jawans). A brigade

of the army and FC, along with their families, are lodged in the area.

Meanwhile, FC jawans also retaliated, but there were no reports about

casualties among militants.

Ibrar Yousafzai of the FC died and the injured 14, whose names could

not be ascertained, were taken to the combined military hospital in

the cantonment.

It may be mentioned here that the incident took place when the

security forces have already started a full-fleged military operation

to flush out criminals and outlaws from Landikotal.

Later, the security forces imposed curfew in Landikotal and started a

search operation to minimize civilian casualties. The entry and exit

points to Landikotal were also blocked on Pak-Afghan highway.

Torkham border was closed down for all kinds of movement which

suffered hundereds of vehicles carrying US consignments and passengers

coaches,which were parked on the both sides of the Pak-Afghan highway.

Fear and anxiety was developed in the locals in Landikotal.

later,political administration Landikotal detained 12 suspected locals

from between Fatimikhel and Ashkhel area and took a car,left behind by

militants after attacking the cantonment area.officials said.

Meanwhile, administration warned the residents of Fatimikhel,Gagra and

Adalkhad to defend their land other wise they would be held

responsible for any mishaps.

Latter on Hazrat Ali took the responsibility of this attack. He has warned the security forces  that more attacks would also be carried out by him against security forces in landikotal. Sources said.

It merits mentioning here that before a week the ongoing military operation in khyber agency , “DARAGHLAM” (I am coming) extended to Landikotal where five homes of alleged militants razed the home of said person Hazrat Ali was also demolished by security forces when he failed to hand over himself to political administration landikotal. Hazrat Ali is wanted to political administration and security forces for allegedly having contacts with militants. . After the wind up this operation before  a couple of days some unknown persons have fired rockets on the home of shinwari tribe elder Malik pervaiz khan mukhtar khel. It is the second attack from unknown men which hit the army camp in landikotal.
