According to Athens daily newspaper, To Vima, Greek authorities are holding an Iraqi man wanted in connection with armed attacks on American targets in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities.

The 46 year old was arrested mid - February while attempting to enter the country illegally. Initially, the detainee claimed to be Palestinian, however, according to the report the Greek authorities subsquently were informed by American and Iraqi security services that the detainee had links with the leader of Al Qaeda  in Iraq.

According to American law enforcement agencies quoted in the article, the man who has not been named, is a "dangerous terrorist" and head of an armed group responsible for numerous attacks on Americans in Iraq.
