Allen West Invokes Red Scare

Rep. Allen West (R-FL) must have set his alarm clock for 1985, because his latest jab at the Democrats scans as a Cold-War relic.

In the video below, you get to see Tea Party darling Allen West say he "heard" that up to 81 House Democrats are "members of the Communist Party".

Oh, Allen West "heard" that? So, he didn't just pull that statistic out of thin air?

Funny enough, Allen West didn't name names. One wonders why.

This is pretty much par for the course for Allen West, who has been known to send weird, sexist emails to his colleagues and calling for censorship of American news outlets.

Allen West's Communist accusation came during a town hall meeting at the Jensen Beach Community Center Martin County. West also touched on his main talking points, which are fairly mainstream for the GOP:

Against leeway for food stamp users
In favor of domestic drilling
In favor of tax cuts for the wealthy

Allen West is running against Democrat Patrick Murphy, who remarked, "The bottom line is, Allen West is trying to make it in the press with comments that don't even make sense."

"I really wish that, standing here before you, was Allen West and President Obama," West said. "We could have a simple discussion. But that ain't ever gonna happen."
"Why not?" an audience member asked.

"Cuz he was too scared!" West responded in a mocking voice.

Or, and we're just throwing this out there, maybe the President of the United States may have more important things to do than deal with a guy who pulls his talking points from Invasion USA.
