The capital of Baja California Sur, situated at the southern tip of the peninsula has been  seriously affected by the closing of Mexican airlines that flight to this port, The first to close was Aerocalifornia leaving thousands without work, and passegers stranded all over the country and the US. This week the community has received the news of Alma de Mexico closing down its operations too and the travel cancelation  for the boat Baja Ferries boat Chihuahua. Being practically an Island incomunnication brings a series of different problems to face. Passengers, staff and providors are concerned about their money. Aerocalifornia's employees are still on strike demanding their pay.

Southwest also will start selling travel to Mexico in 2010 with partner Volaris, a well-financed Mexican carrier that is just two years old, the U.S. carrier said. Southwest has already said it would team with WestJet to offer U.S.-Canada travel by late 2009.

Students studying at inland universities, coming home for the holidays will definetely be affected, either having lost their reservations or having to pay higher prices.

The Hotel Association states "since the closing of Aerocalifornia the connectivity of the state has been the same in spite the new low cost airlines such as Volaris and Vivaaerobus."

Will Southwest retool the Alma cabins to match the 1970s decor?

This is starting to sound more and more like 1929, with one Bankruptcy after another and so far a total of 130,000. lay of all over as Jordan reported earlier. How many more jobs will this one coast. And those will certainly no longer be in a position to flight them self.
