Am I a Bad North American?

The history of Canada is distinct from the USA - from the days of dominion, 1812, to independence. Singing 'Oh Canada' to having two official languages. Being Canadian and having people loving you for being - Canadian.

Being a part of a nation that, as far as I know, besides Australia, most counties respect because, it's Canada - and people love to come here because they are and can be who the want to be - not in nominal 'bowing to the man' type terminology - just that being in Canada means you have freedoms that not many countries dare muster.

I have no idea what your beef is with this post, Barry - but it just doesn't seem 'you'.

If that became to be - I would, in an instant, up-sticks my family and transport them to Europe, and at a pinch, England - for England has become a dominion of the US of the last 10 years - and it is not a nice sight.

How true words can be in the face of rising intolerance towards others whom given an inch take a mile, of Governments whom only listen before elections in choosing the right seeds to plant in public fields yet grow another crop after gaining entry.  Nicely worded Barry and that makes me a BAD Englishman ALSO in me watching my own Country being destroyed by those more interested in themselves than that of a Nation suffering in silence.

Despite our little problem and an overzealous drive towards political correctness, we still, in my mind live in the best country in the world.  This week in Parliament will be a telling one.  The Employment Minister will introduce her EI reform. Jack Layton has taken on a concillatory tone in an interview this morning.  The bringing down of the government is not a given as Igantieff would like to proclaim.  We have a few heroes in this country. Astroanauts, the inventor of the telephone, the inventors of insulin.  We still own hockey for the time being, even though the NHL Commissioner is trying hard to make it otherwise.  The Phoenix Coyotes are an example of that. 

Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee, EH.

Thanks AC ., Granted we do live in the best country in the world, but the pisser is most deride Canada, yet this is the first place they immigrate to when shit hits the fan in their own country.  Dont try and change us, change your country's wrongs  first and make you country your "Yours"! Taking pride in a country that done you wrong and trying to mold Canada into your ideal Paradise aligned closely with your former country, doesnt make sense, do it there, not here!

You may not be a bad North American, but you might be a horrible United States Citizen. 

North America is a Continent with three Countries on it - the United States of America, Mexico and Canada.

You may be a Liberal or Progressive's worst nightmare - but only because your education or intelligence appears to be somewhat lacking and that makes them sad.

Now, I've taken political personality tests and always wind up "Conservative" or "Moderate with Conservative leanings," so remember that as I continue.

I believe that my money belongs to me.  I also realize that no man is an island and that for our government to work for us, it needs some funding.  I'm not greedy and hateful, I just want my contributions to society to be fair and other people who benefit from our government to contribute in the same fair way.

I believe that owning a gun is, indeed, a smart thing.  Knowing how to use it properly is even better.  Realizing that it is a tool instead of a toy makes it even better still.  If you own a gun and are not a killer - you need to practice more because you are obviously a lousy shot or not using the tool for what it is meant for.  If you use a gun to commit murder, you should be killed in the same way, instead of being given food and shelter and an education while people argue about it.

Being a Minority does not entitle you to anything more than anyone else.  Unfortunately, some are going to want to deprive you of that - and our government has to step up and lend some protections to ensure that our Constitution is honored.

I believe that everyone has the right to pray to his or her God, Goddess, Flying Spaghetti Monster or nothing at all, when and where they want.  However, they don't have the right to force me to go along with it or have to listen to it.  They also do not have any right to insert their beliefs into Our government.

Again, I will have to say that North America has three Countries on it.  If you don't like the way things are here in the United States of America, you have every right to make your voice heard and try to change it.  We have every right to laugh at you, argue with you or campaign against what you say.  I, for one, will defend your right to say it, even if I disagree.

I realize that most Citizens are only five or six generations away from their Immigrant relatives.  The ones that are true Natives of this Country are treated horribly by our government - and we should be trying to make that right.

It does take a village to raise a child, especially in these times.  Many are single parents, some children have no parents left.  Everyone should care about the education and welfare of every child in this Country.  I don't believe that we need to be all concerned and funding children in other countries while we have starving, abused or neglected children in our very own Country.  We need to take care of our own before we go messing in other people's business.  That is one reason I support Health Insurance Reform.  (Do note, its not Health CARE Reform.)

I believe that our Forefathers fought for Freedom, Liberty and Justice.  They formed one of the Greatest Democratic Republics ever.  They built on the Old Saxon Common Law (according to Thomas Jefferson) and their own experiences to forge a Secular Government and preserve Freedom of Religion for all Citizens, no matter their religious affiliation or Nation of Origin.  We have strayed so far from their vision, really.  Some in this Country now are seeking a Christian Theocracy.  I believe that all Flags should fly in this Country - we are a Nation of Many Cultures and it would be a travesty to forget our heritage.

I am a United States Citizen and I will defend my Country against all forms of Tyranny, both foreign and domestic.

wtf. I don't mind anyone expressing their opinion, but this is jut an ego-fuelling bunch of ramblings. It's not news and it's certainly not enlightening. How is it possible it is (was?) on the main page of NowPublic?

"If you were born here and don't like it you are free to move to any SOCIALIST, ISLAMIC, COMMMUNIST or DESPOT country that will have you.". . .  Most people will be crawling back, begging for freedom. . . unless they ARE one of those, then it's better that we got rid of them.

Well put Barry.  Being angry at things you disagree with is not a character flaw.  being ignorant or silent is.  Canada needs more angry people.  the kind of people who push back at politicians and say "enough is enough"

Well the message I got from Canada was not to flee to Canada but to go into other countries and try to make them like Canada...that is the good things of Canada. I never got the Ok to come to Canada when I lived in Montana near Edmondton.
