Amanda Knox trial nears completion
Amanda Knox, the 22 year old University of Washington student held in Perugia, Italy on murder charges, is nearing the completion of her Italian court trial.
Knox was accused of murdering her room mate, Meredith Kercher, in November 2007. Kercher, from Great Britain, and Knox, from the U.S. (Seattle, WA) were both studying abroad at the university for International students there. Knox's Italian boyfriend, Rafaele Solecito, was also accused and ordered to stand trial.
The prosecution claimed that a sex-fueled game had gotten out of control. Another suspect, Rudy Guede, a non-Italian from the Ivory Coast, was convicted for the murder, but prosecution claims that Knox and her boyfriend were co-perpetrators in the crime.
The article below seems to indicate that although a special independent investigative DNA analysis has been denied Knox's attorneys none the less, the evidence the prosecution has provided seems not enough to convict her.
I have been following this trial since it began, and was a registered forum member on a site belonging to a journalist covering the story in Perugia. An excellent psychological critique of Knox reveals a sociopathic personality, but this is beyond the scope of the present information. I intend to write more on Amanda Knox after her verdict is announced.
Crucial forensic evidence which could convict American student Amanda Knox of the murder of her British flatmate Meredith Kercher is so scant that it cannot be relied on, a court in Italy has heard.
The judge in Italy who is hearing the case of the coed accused of murdering her roommate has apparently denied an independent study of the supposed DNA found on a knife in the room, which experts testifying in the case have already said is too scant and easily challenged.
The knife in question allegedly has a micro amount of DNA on it, but it was a kitchen knife that could have easily been kicked across the floor in the days after the murder.
Knox's parents are looking at this ruling as a good sign, as they believe that the "evidence" may already be considered too shaky by the judge.
They are also concerned that their daughter has been beaten and tortured during her stay in the Italian prison, which has of course been denied, but believe that when the case ends in November, their daughter will be exonerated and released.

I have followed this case by accidentally watching an hour long show about it. I do not want to believe she did it and do not trust some of the others testimony. I never one a grandchild of mine doing internships in foreign countries for the court systems. It is truly a nightmare for this family and can last all their lives now if she is convicted.
I went to a private school . I was a country girl thrown in with some very rich and wild gals who thought nothing of drinking(in the 60's where I grew up nice girls did not) We had a beach party which boys from another school came...of course beer and some loose behavior. When we checked in one of the girls was drunk and could not sign in. We were together so we were all suspended and then a most horrible letter was sent to my parents. I am calling , crying saying I did not drink (I did not then) and was so sorry. No one wants to be suspended from an expensive private school. The shame of having to go back home ...I did not tho..have to go back home.
One of my roomates was kicked out and I know why . My point is we can be in close proximity of all kinds of dangers thru our young years and get branded wrongly.
I pray for this young woman and her family. I sincerely hope she can be proven innocent. The length of time this has been drawn out is unbelievable. The costs for the family and the pain of being so far away.

Thanks QH for the recommend and the nice comments. Yes, I can see how it must have been for you, alone in a foreign land and then drawn in to activity that you really were not wanting to be a part of, and were not prepared for.... Yes, it is a dangerous situation, and I am afraid this girl may have been part of something which went awry....but time will tell....it must weigh heavily indeed on her family, for nearly 2 years now.....
