Is America a Free Country? I saw a nifty website by Doug Newman, and what he considers to be free.. http://www.strike-the-root.com/4/newman/newman9.html

In fact the issue is a fight of who's idea of freedom really means freedom does it not? And why do we always fight about this topic? Seems to me more freedoms would be realized if we stopped the fighting. In fact fighting brings more problems and moral issues that are destroyed once the fighting begins.....So let's visit Doug for a moment and see his idea.....next to mine in bold.

do we live in a free country?  My answer is absolutely not! Native America Indians are not part of the US Constitution. This should change. How is America a Native Authority? It was overtaken by unruly countries...namely France, Spain, Britian, then the American Revolution.

Consider the following.

In a free country, taxation would be well-nigh non-existent. You could keep what you earned and you could spend, save, invest and donate as you saw fit. You would have far more money with which to solve your own problems.......Really fantastic, but taxation comes in when politicians decide we need to protect freedom...so we have to pay a tax to pay for a military that I don't want. My religion forbids killing and war, yet my freedom of religion is violated in America forcing me to pay my taxes to the Military Industrial Complex.

In a free country, there would not be 20,000-plus laws on the books infringing – and even denying – the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Crime would plummet as criminals would never know who was armed.....This I really disagree with because our society never teaches about Nonviolence or supports Nonviolent agendas. Clearly everyone in America is armed, and crimes still happen more and more each day.  Better to teach that crime does not work, when we have money that is computer encrypted turning it another color and rendering it useless. Crimes occur because of lack of money...and people do bad things to get it...When we make money less of a human value in which we make people more of the human value...the worth to society is increased.....Lot's of money does not mean you are a good person.

In a free country, you could educate your children as you saw fit, without asking anyone’s permission. You could home school you kids if you wanted. Catholics could send their kids to the Our Lady of Mercy School; Baptists could send their kids to the Obadiah Baptist School; Mormons could send their kids to the Joseph Smith school; Muslims could send their kids to the Allah Akbar School; believers in Mungabunga could send their kids to Mungabunga school. If you are not spiritual, you could send your kids to the Whitney Houston School--“Where the children are the future”--or to the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young School--“Where we teach your children well.” Prayer, declining academic standards, evolution, creation, condoms, gay curricula, busing, standardized testing, bullying, discipline, dress codes and all the other debates surrounding education today would cease to be social issues....There is nothing wrong with home teaching, and I am for it, because there is less of a chance of a kid coming to school with a gun and killing everyone.

In a free country, businesses would not be crushed in a regulatory vise grip. Millions of jobs would stay here in America rather than going to Honduras and Bangladesh.....and so the real reason they go outside America is because of low labor costs. American labor costs are very high...and so what about the people in those other countries? How do they pay for American goods? Low Labor costs means they can buy their own goods, while exporting some to the USA to make some money. I just think Americans labor cost it too high. ..and the reason it is high is because you want to much for your products...Never mind the environmental and safety costs.

In a free country, the military would be used strictly for national defense. We would not have troops in 135 countries. We would heed the Founders’ advice and steer clear of foreign alliances, which have been nothing but trouble anyway. We would withdraw from the United Nations and all its subsidiary organizations. Terrorism would cease to be a threat: When we stop throwing our weight around “over there,” hatred and resentment toward the United States will be far, far less........In fact America does not need a defense.  It really does not need a military. The reason we have a military is to protect America from it's criminal past.. If we gave up the military and sought to do good things without force, more people would be supportive to the USA. The reason countries have objections to the USA is because the USA accuses them of terrorism, and bombs them...when they didn't do the acts of terror. America's government did 911 not binLadin. All countries in the world do not want war. When the US gives up its war on the world, the rest of the world will too.

In a free country, we would not have the world’s highest incarceration rate.....This is true...but it stems from the gun problem, and military problem. Too many guns creates more and more crime....worldwide.

In a free country, jurors could judge not only the facts pertaining to a given case, but also the law relevant to that case. If Juror Smith thought Defendant Jones was being tried under a stupid law, Juror Smith could vote to acquit on that basis and that basis alone. The prison population would plummet....In a free country lawyers wouldn't get the outlandish fees they collect, and the idea of white collar crime would decline, when people have jobs and secure homes, so they don't need to committ a crime to face a jury.

In a free country, the value of money would be tied to gold or silver. The Federal Reserve Bank would be shut down. We would not see our savings and our futures eroded by inflation. And we would not owe bazillions of dollars to folks who already have bazillions of dollars......I am the first to say money should not be tied to silver or gold. It needs to be tied to our confidence. Confidence is teh only thing that keeps or breaks a currency value. You state gold and silver as a base....but gold and silver is really based on confidence. I have more confidence in moon dust as being more valuable than silver and gold.....because it is scarce to find....and it is in the heavens above. We should not allow everyday Americans pay for the Military. Here we have Republicans who just spend and spend on war...and never call that Big Government. Why is it Democrats are held with their feet to the fire to fix Republican blunders? Excuse me...They broke, it....they fix it.

In a free country, it would take neither a village nor a police state to raise a child. Government would not act in loco parentis for an absentee Mommy and Daddy. Parents would be responsible for raising their own children. Most of the problems we have with kids today – sex, drugs, violence – would be greatly minimized....fine and dandy to say, but when the Village is in shambles, and no jobs.... just who is responsible? We can close our eyes to the real world or blame issues as private or public...but when it comes down to it...... claiming less government fixes things is complete poppycock.

In a free country there would be no war on drugs. Drug profits and street crime would plummet. It would not be the government’s job to keep people off of drugs. It would be the job of parents, churches, Mungabunga temples, etc. Back when it was this way, there was almost no “drug problem” at all. (If the Mungabunga people smoke that hooch in their rituals, they would be free to do so without fear of DEA harassment.)...... Native American Indians use peyote as a religious drug....I think most of the problems occur when people are selling mass quanties to make money from the drugs. This becomes a problem. You can have all the parents in the world raise their kids to not use drugs, but for every kid, there are 4 dealers.....waiting to introduce them to a new experience. I think we need to be aware that law enforcement officials are more involved in dealing than drug dealers. They want  money.....and they deal because everything else has fallen apart.

In a free country, we would not constantly be relinquishing our freedom in exchange for security. People would know that the greatest threat to their security comes from their own government.....That is for sure......911 was orchestrated by the US government, to take away our freedoms, so they would have greater freedoms and power....which is money.

In a free country, if a state decided it had had enough of rule by Washington, D.C., it could secede from the union without fear of reprisal......I agree.. I think States have a right to be a country or a state. The United Countries of America sounds good to me...This way States have more voice in how things are done in their territory. Every State would have their own President instead of Governor. Presidents would act together to make things better for their Co-United Country Pacts of Alliance.

In a free country, there would be no law forbidding what you could ingest into your body. If a certain medication worked, your doctor could recommend it and you could take it without fear of punishment......I agree and the food issue is also of concern. We don't like pesticides and fertilizer, genetically modified crops in our bodies, and be forced to buy their stuff.

In a free country, there would be no welfare state, no education state and no medical state. There would not be a permanent underclass, the quality of education would be vastly improved, and medicine would be far less expensive. Moreover, immigrants would know that coming to America would mean either sink or swim. Deadbeats would not come here looking for a handout. And all immigrants would, out of necessity, learn English....

In order to end the Welfare State I would begin with the Military. And since no one agrees with that our Education is flawed. We can not function in a military State if it goes against Religion, and we get sick how do we pay the bills? We are declared deadbeats because we don't support the military when they steal our working dollars to pay for their violence. Once you make English the staple of Freedom, it points out how untrue Freedom is. All people have a right to learn another language. America needs to provide itself in more than one language....They are just lazy.

In a free country, there would be no minimum wage. Millions of jobs would be created in the inner cities overnight. Congressmen, senators, and other government workers would be paid what they are worth......Ok and end unemployment insurance and use the minmum wage money to create jobs, so if you lose a job you can instantly find another.

In a free country, there would be no Selective Service System. Threats of a draft would meet with furious resistance, not lame justifications......I agree, along with the end to the Military.

In a free country, there would be no Patriot Act. There would be no "sneak and peek" warrants. The authorities would have to obtain a warrant to review your bank accounts and e-mails. Habeas Corpus would be secure......I agree....and we have the right to reverse those acts they placed on us.....by using them on them. We have the right to wiretap the Presidents phone, and go inside his desk and computer without a warrant to view his CIA files, bank account, and emails.

In a free country, there would be no surrender of sovereignty to entities like the UN, where we can be outvoted 2-1 by such paragons of personal freedom as Sudan and North Korea. Our troops would not be involved in UN sponsored wars. Moreover, things like NATO and the International Criminal Court would no longer have any relevance...In Democracy settings we should respect the vote. In Israel they don't respect the vote of the Palestinians because the Palestinians are the majority. So Democracy is not real in Israel. I believe the US has done many criminal things, and they should be held to the court. They act above the law, and are criminals.

In a free country, there would be no “promise” of Social Security at age 62 or 65 or 67 or . . . how far back will they have moved it when you reach your golden years? You could take that same money and put it in the most profitable private sector investments you could find. Furthermore, you would not be constantly tracked by means of your Social Security Number....Social Security should not be used in the Stock Market...just think if it was invested in Enron? Pretty dumb! People should get their money at 50 years of age, and Social Security should be a worldwide program, where younger out numbers the old. America should include the rest of the world in its process. Also voting for President should be a world right, not an American right.

In a free country, you would only be punished if you inflicted physical harm on somebody else. Rick Stanley would never have been arrested and Martha Stewart would be a free woman. Randy Weaver’s wife and son would still be alive. The Branch Davidians would be living in peace on the outskirts of Waco. Non-violent drug offenders would not waste away in prison, while convicted rapists and murderers went free....That I agree, and Georger Bush should be in jail by all rights to this for killing thousands  of innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In a free country, churches would truly be exempt from taxation, which would be minimal to begin with. The IRS would not have conducted raids on the Indianapolis Baptist Temple, Dr. Kent Hovind’s creation science theme park and other ministries that have not kissed up to the government in order to be tax exempt. Indeed, there would be no IRS......not only that but religious belief  should be tax exempt. I don't need to have a church to have tax exemption, against war.

In a free country, we would not have adopted nine of the ten “planks” of Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto. How have we done this? (1).....Just because he is Karl Marx does not mean he is all bad. I support environmental laws,

In a free country, your property rights would not be under attack. (Plank 1) There would be no zoning laws. You could not lose your home or business for failure to pay taxes. There would be no EPA harassment of landowners over “wetlands” and other issues. The FEDGOV would not be the nation's largest landowner.

In a free country, there would be no progressive income tax. (Plank 2) Again, there would be no IRS. Period.....Ok who pays for police, fire department, roads, bridges, and that stuff?

In a free country, there would be no inheritance tax. (Plank 3)

And if I worked all my life paying social security, my relatives could get the money, in the event I die.

In a free country, there would be no confiscation of property of those who resisted the powers that be. (Plank 4) Consider what they did to my friend Rick Stanley. (2).........I agree.

In a free country, there would not be a central bank. (Plank 5) There would be no Federal Reserve and there would not a multi-zillion dollar national debt.  We should be able to start our own currency. The current one is certainly useless and bankrupt.

In a free country, there would be no government control of communications and transportation. (Plank 6) There would be no FCC, DOT, ICC, etc. Airports would not be mini-police states. And who gets the revenue? It would be a war zone.

In a free country, there would be no government intrusion in manufacturing and agriculture. (Plank 7) There would be no Department of Labor or Department of Agriculture. Your business could not be shut down for OSHA violations. There would be no federal farm subsidies or price supports.

In a free country, there would be no federal control of labor. (Plank 8) There would be no National Labor Relations Board, no minimum wage laws, no affirmative action or racial quotas....I believe they need miniumum wage....or pay us more so we don't need it.

The merger of agriculture and industry (Plank 9) is tough to explain in one short paragraph. The centralizers can only be happy that farming is increasingly controlled by conglomerates that are far more likely to kiss up to the FEDGOV than a family that has worked the same piece of land for three generations.

In a free country, the government would not be in control of education. (Plank 10) I am fond of pointing out to people that, while neither the Bible nor any of America’s Founding documents say anything about state education, you will find state education as a policy prescription of the Communist Manifesto.....

Education is necessary unless you want illiterates running the world...

So there you have it.

America is not a free country.

And I have to agree.

This is Rev. Jermano

God Bless.

djermano, I like this story. It's good stuff.

I do agree on the part that America is not a free country yet it does have a great Propaganda machine that lets its people believe that they are free.

The difference between a Russian and an American is the Russian knows that there is no such a think as freedom, yet the American does believe to be Free.  I was told this on a stay in Russia some time ago and it seems to have some truth to it.
