Is America ready for President Obama?

As an almost-disinterested outsider its really humorous to see how the world is so fascinated with United State's President candidate Senator Obama.

Newspapers all over the world seemed to take a rapt interest even in the most ridiculous like his speech intonations and even the colour of his gym shorts. The Mccain's party had even wryly adopted what the Hillary camp mocked it as "The media' love affair with the senator". From recent media survey, it's not just the media now, it's pretty much just about everyone except...the Americans.

"I think the world is keenly interested in this election; I think they're hungry for a sense of where America's going," Obama said, standing in the aisle of his campaign plane. "Certainly there's a curiosity factor involved."

Even the Indonesian media quipped that if the United States fails to elect him as the President, they would unofficially appoint him as the President of Indonesia instead.

And what about the fact that while Senator Obama was in Berlin, 700 policemens were deployed during his visit?

Vernon Thomas, an 18-year-old tourist from Omaha, Nebraska, said that he was astounded by the support that he has seen in Germany for the Democrat, The Associated Press reported.

"I think it's amazing; there are more people to see him here in Berlin than in my hometown," Thomas said. "For someone to get that much support in a foreign country, it's spectacular."

It was reported that Obama had even won the elections, in Europe that is. Germany and other European Countries had by landslide votes of 86% preffered Obama for the premiership.

As I recalled Maureen Dowd had even joked in IHT, :

At moments, Obama was acting as though he were already "on a coin," as Jon Stewart would say. But cocky or not, he needs to swoop up to conquer so Americans can picture him in the role.

The world seems to be overwhelmingly ready for someone who carry less rowdy policies and less bad puns but the only question now, are the Americans?

As you said the World is or may be, yet it is rather doubtful that America will be!

Your're right. There was a news joke today : McCain in German restaurant while Obama in Germany. Now that's irony.

Now I like that joke! Good one!

The answer is NO! So he won the election over there? Well, then, let them have him. There! Our media is under a spell, and totally irresponsible IMHO. at least to the public, maybe not to their masters.

That's the peculiar side of the media I guess. If they like or loath something, it becomes an overblown giant three ring circus with roasted peanuts on the side. :-)

René

No, that's the unethical side. They're supposed to be objective, unbiased, and not slant news.

It is Politics though, Hard to be objective, especially in a campaign!

Was just about to say the same thing. I mean, when the media starts to be objective and unbiased that would really be the day when the purple pigs fly. I mean at the end of the day it's not about what you read that really determines something. To get support a person has to have that certain touch and I dont think any journalist can write about that.

America is not a socialist/Marxist country so Obama must hide his true ideology from the American people. If he can not get the white vote in Michigan, Ohio, Penn, he has no chance of getting over 50%. He should just make up with Hillary and put her on the ticket or he will never get the "gun and religion clingers" to vote for him..

Im wondering about the same thing as well mpress, with Hillary : Pride commeth before a fall i guess. But from what I heard, he did have a discussion with Bill arnd few weeks ago. Wonder what's that all about...

btw thanks for the flag.

Right now the Hillary voters are not going to vote for Obama. They are not afraid of McCain since he is conservative "Light." Obama on the other hand is being handled by an all white liberal leftist brain trust. It will be the biggest move to the left in American history and I think would end the socialist flirtation America is now having..I am not crazy about McCain but I fear the race war an Obama victory would bring. The Democratic Primary proved that the Democrats are far from the tolerant open minded people they portray themselves as...The racist preacher and all the division during the primary has unmasked the Democrats. Sexism and racism was blatant through the whole process..

Oh, please, don't do it, Hillary.

Haha..to this I have to agree Rene.

Rene Obama has no chance without Hillary. The pollsters are even saying that the massive undecideds are Hillary voters who will vote for McCain but who will not say so to the pollsters. That means if Obama only leads McCain by less than 3 points he is in deep caca.

I am not sure where this Socialism/Marxism keeps coming from?

Did  any one here ever read Marx his "das Kapital" ? So they may actually know what he was talking about! It certainly is not what Stalin did!

Did Obama ever say that he was a Socialist and or a Marxist?

Is this not just an attempt at defamation for lack of Ideas and plans as well as program that would counter Obama?

I have a feeling the Right Wing is shooting blanks here and at random hoping to hit some thing out of despair and the fear to lose against Obama!

Paschen, im there with you. I wouldnt want to be misquoted for saying that Obama is a socialist or Marxist. That's not my viewpoint, ler's make that clear. But what do they know that we dont because Im so interested to know anything that could change my mind about the despair of the impending mistake US is going to make all over again come 100 days from now!

0
Paschen

I will second you on that! I would like to know my self!

Obama is progressive, which to some, who aren't familiar with political ideology and the political spectrum, is to left of liberal. But the foundations of the progressive era(s) in American politics has always led to great movements in society. And many of these movements had religious leaders taking the helm.

haha..partly my fault here. So sorry.

tiha zaman

Tell me about it. But I still believe that a world and Americans trying to tolerate Obama is better compared to the option of a world tolerating McCain. But that's me...
