According to Jamaican officials, nobody was killed in the American Airlines crash at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, Jamaica. AA Flight 331, a Boeing 737-800, crashed after landing when it overshot the runway, crossed Port Royal Road, and stopped on the beach. The aircraft was broken in two.

Passengers from American Airlines flight 331 that crashed described a lack of any medical attention, exposing a rather large gap in Norman Manley Airport's emergency-management capabilities.

People at the arrival area of the airport waiting to pick up their friends or loved ones first got a hint that something was wrong when they saw passengers emerging from the Customs hall bloodied and shaken.
