On May 28, 2008, members of the U.S. Marshals sponsored Hornet’s Nest Task Force captured escapee Richard Allen Sloan in Kings Mountain, North Carolina after being on the run for approximately one year. Sloan had been previously featured on “America’s Most Wanted” after being convicted in March 2002 for sexually abusing a 7 year old girl.

On February 8, 2007 Sloan was excused from the work release program in Lauderdale County, Alabama to attend a mandatory court ordered meeting. An escape bench warrant was issued in Lauderdale County, Alabama on Richard Allen Sloan on February 9, 2007 after Sloan failed to return to the Lauderdale County Community Corrections Work Release Center.
